Petty thugs and kidnappers.

Officials also announced that the promised release of Turney was suspended due to Britain's "behavior" in the matter.

"The wrong behavior of those who live in London caused the suspension," Iranian military commander Alireza Afshar said, according to the Mehr news agency.

If I were Tony Blair, I'd go find my balls and blast Iran back to the Stone Age.

Plus, if this female sailor were a US citizen, she'd be tried for treason the second we had her back on US soil. Disgusting.

Don't be surprised at this, after all, their president is one of the ones that held americans for so long in 1979.. Iran is Iran.

I still want to know how we're allied with a country with so little testicular fortitude. I might not love the John Wayne theatrics of some of the crap we do, but having one of our sailors manipulated like this is something I wouldn't stand for.

Then again we made a hero out of the chick who was too stupid to follow a convoy. Go figure huh.

The Brits need to get Margaret Thatcher back or someone with enough backbone to tell that little schmuck in Iran to release the prisoners before sundown (don't give them even 24 hours - they've already had them about a week), or ELSE. Then then 'em "What Else" is, and then do it.

Gingrich (sp) had an idea today that Boortz told us about. Take out their one refinery and if that didn't work a blockade (sp). (Excuse my spelling - but I only have 8 minutes left on this dang computer).

Anyway stop pandering and trying to negotiate. You can't negotiate with dictators and/or terrorists.

Iran knows how to get under your national skin and stay there.

So, are there any serious suggestions on what our friends in the UK should do?

I think this is great. If I were the Brit PM, I'd quietly be trying to drag this out as long as possible. The Iranians are making utter fools of themselves.

Missile strikes until all of the hostages are back on soggy English soil. The only thing a bully knows is bullying. Anything less is a waste of time.

Relax , it could be much worse . We could be hooked up with France .
They'd have already surrendered .:p_cry:

I guess. Sometimes being a former history major really sucks because you know how we got to here from there and it's doesn't always give you confidence in our "allies" if you know what I mean.

I assume she was forced to say those things if she wanted avoid dying, being raped, or god knows what by these animals

The truth will eventually come out. But if any of that is true, then her fellow sailors should be ashamed they aren't trying to protect her from that sort of thing.

I think she is being kept separate from the others, based on the line about her have "privacy". They obviously view women as the weak link so they are hammering on her.

If I were Blair, I would give a deadline and propose a strike, and strike about 1 day before the deadline and when they griped, advise them that I do not negotiate with terrorists but will happily lie through my teeth to them.

How old are you? Your thoughts on this matter are not well considered. Exactly what are they supposed to do? They are also prisoners.

I feel for the Brits, but they cannot cave. They need to state an untimatum with clear reprecussions and follow through. The lives of the sailors cannot be used to hold the entire country hostage...

It would go something like this.
Step 1:
UK: "We want our troops Back."
Iran: "We don`t like the way you are acting about it."
Step 2:
Sudden and mysterious explosion at one of their nuclear enrichment facilities.
Step 3:
UK: "We want our troops back. By the way, heard about your little mishap, sorry to hear that, of course we`ll help any way we can."
Step 4: Repeat steps 1 thru 3 until goal is accomplished.

If they bomb them right now, the sailors are dead and I can GUARANTEE the media would portray the Brits as the bad guys.

Iran is completely brainwashed as well. Their people are being told that the prisoners admitted to being in Iranian waters. An attempt by Ahmadinejad to bolster support for his activities in Iraq.

Problem is a lot of the world doesn't trust the West. An attack would only create a greater setback for the Coalition in the Middle East. I think the UK is doing a pretty darn good job of handling this right now. It sucks they are prisoners but if this is handled the right way, the UK can get their guys back and have a leg up on Iran in the rest of the world. Further UN sanctions, etc, will further crush the already faltering Iranian economy. They have to stay smart here.

I disagree. You cannot negotiate with kidnappers, even if they are a nation/state. They are going down the wrong path, even if they get the sailors back alive...
