Iron Bowl just to tailgate

Assuming ticket prices for the Iron Bowl are going to be out the roof, We are debating on driving up from Dothan just to hang out all day and tailgate with whomever we meet. I have never done that, always had tickets before I go. Of course I will look for tickets while I am there but dont expect to get any. Therefore, she and I are just planning on tailgating all day.

Thing is, can we definitely find somewhere to watch it? Does the quad have a big screen on it or anything? I guess we can always just squeeze up beside someone elses TV. Just have concerns because I have never been outside the stadium while a game was going on. Always been inside, haha. She has never been to a Bama game at Tuscaloosa so even though we wont have tickets, I am thinking we can still have a large time outside. Any thoughts or advice?

one of my cousins was thinking of doing this as well. I might go too. I don't know yet, so I am curious of this myself.

I did this in 2008 and it was fantastic...even in the rain.

I am not sure if I am going to the game this year as my parents' tickets might go to my sister and her husband. If they do use the tickets then my wife and I will definitely be tailgating on the Quad with our food, drinks, and satellite TV.

For the record...I have been to 4 Iron Bowls in Tuscaloosa...2000, 2002, 2004, 2006...we lost every dadgum one of them. So I am a little nervous about going to this one...if I end up going.

HAHA, its funny how superstitious alot of can be about bama football. If this game wasnt on a Friday, I could find plenty of people to go tailgate with us, but not having any luck on finding people to ride up there with us so far. I think we are going to just ride up there are tailgate, wont get there till 10 or 11 though, wont have much time before kickoff.

I'd say we've only been in the stadium 50% of the times we've been to Tuscaloosa. All of the bars on the strip will have the game on and will be electric. We hit the Quad then make our way to the The Houndstooth.
