ncbama touched on this, but if you haven't ever been to Dreamland, his reference might have been easy to miss.
Once upon a time, there was one and only one Dreamland. It was southeast of Tuscaloosa, about a mile to the north off of highway 82, just outside Tuscaloosa, after it ceases to be McFarland Boulevard on the way to Montgomery.
That's no longer true. The Bishop family that founded the restaurant no longer holds a controlling interest, if it has any ownership at all. There are now at least two Dreamlands in Tuscaloosa (maybe more, I don't know). The one ncbama refers to is in Northport.
To get there, head west on University Boulevard, through the main business district in downtown Tuscaloosa. A block past the intersection of University and Greensboro Avenue, you'll come to Lurleen Wallace Boulevard. Turn right onto Lurleen and you'll be on a bridge over the Black Warrior River.
Cross the river, and take the first exit to the right. Go about a half block, and take another right. The Northport Dreamland is about 50 to 100 yards on your left.
And ncbama's right. This is the one to go to on gameday. It's way less crowded, and has exactly the same food as you'll get at the original location.
If your heart is set on the original location, I certainly understand the desire for history. Just understand that you'll wait, you won't deal with the Bishops (they're long gone), and you'll have the same food as you would have in Northport.
