Is it too early to make Vandy predictions?

Bama 45
Dores 27

The Dore's get a few trash TD's on turnovers and special teams, but the Bama Defense plays fairly well (under 100 yards rushing and under 250 passing). Bama's Offense will shine again. I think both Grant and Coffee will go over 100 yards. The true test comes against the Hawgs in 12 days.

I say it will be kinda like the Southern miss game of last.
Keith Brown leaps and catches the ball over a def.'s head at half time to shoot our momentum in the 2nd half and win 31-20:biggrin:

Bama's D will be fine and show that they improved a lot over the summer with a good S & C program and our offence will still not have to open the play book, also we have that Saban guy overseeing the D. We'll be fine and getting ready for Arkansas by the fourth quarter.
Bama 34
Vandy 10

I think SC and company step up and shut down Bennett, or at least slow him down enough for us to win big. CMA will open up the play book a little more. I say 38-14.

I agree. Even when we are weak, we still beat Vandy. Vandy is Vandy no matter how you try to spell it or spin it. I think we put 35-45 points on them and they get 13-20 max. Just my opinion, but I am usually pretty good on score predictions. I called LSU-MSU 38-0, and it was 45-0. I called Bama-WCU 52-0, & we got 52-6. Heck, I should go to Vegas. I say Bama 44 - Vandy - 16.

Vandy has improved. There are no gimmes in college football. Ask Michigan. The game is still won on the field not in the history books.

I just got done watching the Western Carolina game for the second time and have come to the conclusion that this is a team with an IDENTITY!!!! This isnt a Shula coached team, Saban has put his stamp on these players. The intensity they showed against a mediocre team was amazing. I truly believe that the defense will be better than expected, like I have been saying all along we dont need a great defense to be successful this year, if we have anything like the one last year we will have a good year. I think we will see Castille matched up against Bennet most of the day and little more blitzing from the defense. Offensively we just got to play our ball and not make silly mistakes and penalties.

BAMA- 35
VANDY- 14

Grant- 135 yards 2 tds
Wilson- 250 3 tds
Castille- 2 ints from forced throws from Nickson

Our Offense looked really good last week despite JPW showing up a little rusty with his throws at times. I think our O-Line will control the LOS against Vandy and Grant/Johns will put up some good rushing numbers. I fully expect Grant to get 100+ on this Vandy D, even against their stud LB's. I expect to see at least one big play from either back catching a pass out of the backfield. As for the passing game, I really think we will mix it up a little more. We have a loaded WR corps and if you single anybody out as the big threat, the next dude will burn you. JPW should have a good day if he gets those throws under control. Also, I have to give some props to the TE pass plays. They could be big as well.

On Defense, I think we revert back to the more conventional 3-4 base with a LB playing up on the LOS instead of Nickel Defense with the added Corner. I feel this change is due largely to the fact that Vandy has a legit running attack. I know we didn't get alot of pressure against WCU since we were trying to contain the pass from all their Spread type Offense, but this week, Vandy's main threat comes from mainly one WR, Earl Bennett. I think if you contain him with double coverage, control the other WR's with man coverage, and stop the run, you beat Vandy easily.

My fearless prediction is Alabama 24 Vandy 10.

I don't think that these people predicting we hold Vanderbilt to 10 points or less realize how good of an offense that they have. Earl Bennett is the best receiver in the SEC and top 5 in the country. We can only hope to slow him down. Also, their running backs are good enough to put some yards up on our weak front 7, but I think the biggest threat to our defense is Chris Nickson's legs. Not only will he be able to run on Bama, but the fear of him running will cause our secondary to pause allowing Bennett to get open. Thus, I think Bama in a shootout. 34-28 Bama.

However, if Bama does pull out a blowout and the defense holds them to 10 points or less then I think this will be a very very good season for Bama.
