Jalen Milroe appreciation thread

I've stated numerous times that the UGA game would determine who is QB1 for the remainder of the season. JM stepped up and had a heck of a game. His best yet IMHO. I'm thrilled to see the improvement and hope it continues throughout the year.

I criticized the heck out of him. I'm honestly amazed at how his confidence has progressed more than anything. It seems like just yesterday that he was filling in for an injured Bryce Young at home against Texas A&M. THAT QB and the one we're blessed to have today are two VERY different QBs. I believe he'll end up being my favorite Bama QB because of his journey.

He will be certainly. However, if Milroe continues to get multiple games with multiple TDs passing and rushing....he's gonna be tough to beat.

Hunter...a phenomenal player....he plays almost every snap Colorado has every game on both sides of the ball. I hope he can stay healthy.

I could see the list being some mix of Milroe, Hunter, Ward, maybe Williams.

Hunter will be a top 10 pick in the NFL. But for me, if Milroe keeps up his tear on the endzone I find it hard to believe that Hunter deserves it just because he plays both ways. Milroe is playing against better competition and in bigger moments, i.e. this past Saturday night. If Hunter playing both ways is what makes him "deserve" the award, then they can spare all of us the wait and dog and pony show in December. Just give it to him now and let's move on with the season so we can watch Jalen Milroe play meaningful football games on the biggest stage.

He really does. IMO he and the Boise State RB should be right up there in the Heisman race along with Milroe after the Georgia game. Cam Ward too, forgot about him.

Yes, they are definitely in the conversation, but has any of them played in a game of magnitude like Jalen has, and honestly, will they? Cam Ward might be the only one who even comes close to playing in a game to the magnitude of Jalen, but the other two will not. To perform the way Jalen did on the stage he did, IMO, sets him way apart right now in the Heisman race.

I’m so old, I thought the picture was an American Megatrends boot up screen…

In all seriousness, Jalen Milroe has shown remarkable improvement the last two games. He finally started throwing short over the middle against UGA, and it really seems like the lights have come on. Add in the Ryan Williams factor on the outside, and I just don’t see how any defense can stop us all game. UGA has the best defense we will face in the regular season, and Milroe made them look silly at times. Let’s hope his early success this year continues and leads to bigger and better things.
I complete agree on Georgia's defense. The talent and depth they have is unmatched. Furthermore, they have the best defensive coach in the country in Kirby. He learned very well on adjustments from the master. Tennessee will be the second best and that being a road game will be challenging in its own right.

Oh for sure. Milroe is probably #1 right now. But its a long season and Hunter, the Boise RB and Ward all will have their chances. All 3 of those guys have been really impressive. The Boise RB is averaging 10 yards a carry on 82 carries, that's insane.

That said Milroe will have the most opportunities to shine in big games. If Milroe plays like he did in the 1st half vs UGA in our other big games (Tennessee, Missouri, LSU, Oklahoma, SECCG) it's probably his.

I'm guilty as charged and will gladly man up and admit it.

Hurts, Tua, Mac, and Bryce stepped onto the field and immediately kicked ass. I never questioned his intelligence or his God given talent, but I was just SO spoiled by those four guys, I seemed to have forgotten that a great part of college football is watching these kids develop.

Well on Saturday, Milroe did everything that I wanted him to do, to wit:

1) He made quick decisions. He didn't wait around and take sacks. He took off and ran instead of hesitating.
2) He led the team on sustained drives. This of course kept the defense off the field.
3) He had great touch on short passes.
4) He made great use of the tight ends, and we are stacked at that position.

These are the things that I always wanted for and from the kid. If he keeps it up he will soon be a multi- millionaire, and I'm glad to see this happen to such a good player and person.

ROLL TIDE 4EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not just proud of what he's done on the field, though I am proud and excited about that.

He is such a great "FACE" of our university. High-profile athletes, coaches, etc., tend to represent a school to the rest of the world whether they or we like it or not. Watch his interviews, his mannerisms, his inherent leadership qualities, and how other athletes regard him.

In a moment when you can look around college football (especially down SOUTH, down the ROAD) and see coaches and athletes squabbling, pointing fingers, handling adversity in the worst possible way... I'm proud of OUR guy. Even in the adversity and with loads of criticism, that quality was always there. Always wanting to get better. (Read what people say about his work ethic.) Always ROLL TIDE with a smile.

Get it, young man. It's your time.

He's definitely unconventional as a quarterback. He does things his way. And some of "his way" is different from every other quarterback. I saw someone doing film analysis after the Wisky game. He kept bringing up how Milroe set his feet all wrong to throw. But then the throw would be perfect for touchdown. LOL He's definitely cut from a different mold. But he's a winner and fun to watch. He has the locker room behind him. He's a leader.

On top of all that, he done gone and outflanked all the anti-LANKers hereabouts. Amazing what a little QB coaching and an offensive system that plays to his strengths – plus desire and perseverance to go whole hog into becoming a complete quarterback - can do, innit?
