Coach Saban and coach Steele will give Burroughs his medicine and he can either take it and get better or hit the portal, not worried, portal goes both ways.

I'm very much of the school that you're looking for the productive solution, and that very much depends on individual circumstances and whether someone is in the space to take something positive from it.

As far as "one mistake" goes, I'm also of the opinion that in this case shooting pellet guns in a dorm was strike 1, and responding extremely poorly to being called out on that is strike 2.

Well, this whole situation is probably going to be an over cooked nothing burger. If it were that serious we'd already know he was permanently off the team. But since that is not the case I believe that there are hail mary's and wind sprints in Jamil's immediate future:

Everyone seems to be going off Tsouklas' reporting. As in, other reporters are citing his original story, and not much else.

That said, while he's definitely a homer, I've found that when Tsouklas confines his comments to facts (as opposed to breathless predictions of player and/or team performance), he's been generally reliable in the past.

Especially given the access he'd stand to lose in the Athletic Department for publishing a false story, I have no reason to believe that his account is inaccurate. I'd also point out that the Athletic Department has been deafeningly silent. IOW, no one has cited any inaccurate reporting.

Assuming Tsouklas is accurate, here's what we know:
- Players were "playing" with gel paint guns. (Side note: Think there might be some splattered paint on walls -- aka vandalism -- in Bryant Hall?)
- The ruckus got so heated that police and Josh Chapman were called.
- When the police and Chapman arrived, other participants cooled their jets.
- Burroughs didn't.
- Burroughs got physical with Chapman, though the exact nature of the confrontation isn't reported.

To my mind, it doesn't matter if Burroughs punched, shoved, or pushed Chapman, or even if he swung and missed. I think we can safely assume he wasn't pressing an index finger into Chapman's chest to make a point.

Think about this as well: over a hundred 18 - 22 year old young men in incredible physical condition. Anyone who thinks physical confrontations in amongst the group are uncommon is kidding themselves. Shoot, they happen multiple times a year in every fraternity house on campus. The difference here is that this one was serious enough that someone called police and that word got out.

I don't know the details. But given what we do know, the odds are really strong that this was not a run-of-the-mill / boys-will-be-boys incident. And I reiterate my feeling that if Jamil Burroughs indeed struck or attempted to strike Josh Chapman in any way, he should be gone.

That's fair and I agree. But as you said, we do not know the facts nor the seriousness of the altercation. Coach built this thing so I'll defer to him. He let a freshman back on the team that had much, much worse charges against him. If it is a salvageable situation then that is the track based on what has been done in the past and I agree with that too. I've done some things as a kid. I thank God that I was given a chance to make it better and I definitely became a better person thanks to the opportunity to improve myself.

I don’t think the two instances are as similar as people think. People forget Brown was already set on transferring in October. Also what people forget is that Saban put him even after that blowup in the same game.

If I was willing to bet… the decision will be based on around whether Allen and Jamil can coexist together and whether or not Jamil will adhere to the type of discipline that CNS decides on. That’s unless Things are worse than what is being inferred.
I'd say that future relations between coach and player are up to Burroughs. If he makes a move to mend relations with Chapman,
he might be salvageable. If not... His future will be elsewhere.
RESISTANCE IS FUTILE... ( Nothing like stealing a movie quote...)

If what's been said is true, that all this came from a paint ball fight that apparently got out of hand, I have to question if something else isn't going on with Burroughs. I won't speculate because we all know there are chemical and psychological issues that can cause people to act inappropriately. This situation doesn't sound like something that should have escalated once authority figures showed up. As in all things, what happens to Burroughs has to do with with who is and what he's willing to do to make this right. But if he's going to be a distraction I'd expect him to be packing his bags. This team doesn't have time for it.

There is depth…and then there is DEPTH. We aren’t here to just win the sugar bowl.
So you're saying these defensive linemen can't play well enough to help Bama win a NC? But can with Burroughs?

R-so Damon Payne Jr 6'4" 303 lbs
Sr Tim Smith 6'4" 302 lbs
R-Sr Justin Eboigbe 6'5" 292 lbs
R-Jr Jah-Marien Latham 6'3" 275 lbs
So Jaheim Oatis 6'5" 328 lbs

Fr 5* James Smith 6'3" 296 lbs. May see play time in a few games, but likely redshirt. Or he could work into the rotation, as Oatis did last year. I think he'll be a good one.
