Bama landing a top 5 recruiting class isn't news, and a last-minute defection was kind of a bummer. The barn signing a top-5 class IS news, and a couple of last-minute commitments ended their signing day on a high note. We'll know in 2-3 years who really won the recruiting battle of 2010, and I'm confident we'll enjoy the results more than they do.

This was a magical season, but it is over and there's not much left to say about it in the media. Focus shifts to next year where we stand a good chance of putting another crystal ball in the Bryant Museum. We may even let the barners look at our new trophy so they'll know what one looks like when they show up to receive their beating in November.

SEC champions.Heisman winner.National championship #13.What an awesome season.Nothing, and I mean nothing Auburn or Tennessee can ever do will top what we have just witnessed in '09.
Amen! Sometimes I do still have to pinch myself because I just don't believe we won the NC this year!! that just gets me even more excited because I can relive that feeling over and over!

Auburn took one recruit from us for the 2010 season and they got ONE verbal commitment from a kid we may not want anyway! We will beat them for the 3rd year in a row this year!

If you (OP) are feeling like we aren't National Champions or something is lacking for you, it is your own fault! Stop being a Debbie Downer for the rest of us!!

You are exactly who I was referring to in my previous post. If your not going to take the time to read what I actually said, then your opinion doesn't mean anything to me. Why would you expect others to read what you have to say when you don't extend the same courtesy?

More than anything, I guess I'm just disappointed about the publicity we've gotten. As someone said earlier, it's not simply an Alabama bias, it's a bigger problem. The media is always focused on what's next. It was less than 24 hours before I saw the first pre-season top 25 poll for the 2010 season. Absurdity at it's finest.
And who is #1 in those pre-season polls? A L A B A M A!!!!

Much, much better than the publicity we were getting a few years back. I thought I was going to eventually hurt somebody over continually hearing about how Bama was a 'has been' middle of the road football program.

I'll take this kind of publicity all day. Even when it includes hyping up that school down the road to make it seem as if they're "catching up" to us.

It's obvious to me that some of you didn't read past the thread title. I know in my corner of Alabama that Chizik has stolen some headlines, and AU has gotten a ton of pub on the radio, and in print, and frankly, I don't feel we've gotten due credit for what we accomplished this past season.

...

My OP apparently struck a chord, and I apologize if it came off the wrong way. More than anything, I guess I'm just disappointed about the publicity we've gotten. As someone said earlier, it's not simply an Alabama bias, it's a bigger problem. The media is always focused on what's next. Ok, Dude.

Time to grow up. You are responsible for your own happiness in Bama's winning of the 2010 BCS Championship Game. We are the Bama Nation. It is up to us to have fun with it.

No one else who isn't a Bama fan cares how you feel. Florida Fan doesn't care. Tennessee Fan doesn't care. LSU fan doesn't care. And Auburn Fan hates ya. CBS cares about March Madness. NBC has the Olympics and ESPN has 30 to 30.

When does the last piece of confetti hit the ground for ya, man? This is not the day after Christmas and we are not spoiled 9-year olds wondering where the rest of the presents are.

Now go get some gear, or put the DVD back in the player and watch it again. You're supposed to enjoy this all by yourself. Who needs anyone else's help.

Well, I think you must be surrounded by the wrong people. I can assure you here in Utah they know we are the national champions and if anyone is in doubt, I remind them. I am sure not depressed by the state of affairs. If you listen to the media and the a holes that we have just whipped, they will always find something derogatory to say about Bama.

Cheer up! It is great to be a Bama fan!:BigA:

We did win the National Championship right?

This past month has been surreal, it fell well below any expectation I could have had for it. Maybe I'm the only one, it wouldn't be the first time, but it sure doesn't feel like we just won #13. All the talk on the radio is of Auburn recruiting, Spencer Region, the New Orleans Saints, etc. . .

Auburn is winning right now. They've successfully distracted us from what we accomplished just 1 month ago. We can't let it continue. We've got to figure out a way to reverse the trend.

A UT fan I work with today made the comment "You know, you guys winning the National Championship hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. I thought that's all I'd hear for the next 10 years, and I barely hear anyone mention it anymore. All anyone talks about is Auburn." That comment kinda got under my skin. I don't think he meant it in a bad way, but when an outsider see's the situation that way, it really strikes a chord.
Sorry but this is one of the most ridiculous posts I've ever read on TideFans. I've heard a few more fans saying stuff like this. If you can't enjoy Alabama winning a National Title because of what a UT fans says or because of something happening at Auburn, or because of the radio, then you should take a look at yourself.

I'm not sure what people expected but the other teams aren't going to quit because UA won the NC. Their fans and the media aren't going to congratulate us 24/7/365. What exactly is it you get out of UA winning a title? Is it gratifying to see the players and coaches for UA win and being able to celebrate with them? Or do you get more gratification from other teams and fans reactions?

It's a shame that Alabama is on top again and some fans fixation on other schools won't allow them to enjoy it.

Personally, there is no UT fan, AU fan, or radio personality that can take anything away from what I experienced this entire season, in Pasadena and in the aftermath. Any fan that doesn't feel the same isn't having it stolen away by anyone. They are freely giving it away. Change the focus.

Sorry, dude. I didn't mean to offend or be rude/mean. If I could have emphasized a "whiney, sarcastic, rant" voice (mine) I would have. You know, like when your 12 year old says something like, "aww, dad (or mom)" when they don't get their way.

However, I do think we, as Bama fans, have a LOT to be happy for/proud of!

ETA: Multi-tasking while reading tidefans isn't a good idea. Went back and re-read your OP and I totally get what you are saying and agree. I think I read it with the wrong attitude! I made the mistake of listening to the F-bomb today and hearing all the Aubs rant and rave. I was in a defensive mood. LOL. So sorry. :)

Just got this in an e-mail

This is all that Saban and Bama did last year. What's the big deal? 14-0
with wins vs....

The defending BCS National Champion
The Big 12 Conference Champion
The BCS Sugar Bowl winner
The Cotton Bowl winner
The Chick-Fil-A Bowl winner
The Outback Bowl winner
The Liberty Bowl winner
Only the second (2nd) National Champ to be 14-0
Only the second team in 11 years to have the Heisman winner also be a National Champion

PLUS

The most All-Americans ever assembled on one team
The only coach in the AP era to have won at two different schools

The only SEC team that has gone back to back SEC seasons undefeated since the late 70's
Beat another undefeated team to win the BCS Crown
Beat an elite team from the SEC, ACC and Big 12

PLUS PLUS

Beat arguably the best player ever in Tim Tebow
Beat the winningest QB ever in Colt McCoy
The first Alabama team to have ever beaten Texas

AND

Beat four teams this season that have coaches that have won National Championships
Beat the previous three BCS National Champs in one season

Lastly, this is the first team EVER to beat 10 teams in the same season that all ended the season with winning records.

Wow, maybe the most condescending you've ever come off towards me.

I'm not asking for a ticker tape parade everyday, but I do feel a little slighted when it's been a little over a month since our national championship win, and already Auburn is taking over some headlines.

The past year has been great. I've had to listen to my future father in law complain on an almost daily basis about Bama always being on the front of the sports page, etc... Now I walk in his house and see him grinning from ear to ear about his latest "good news."

Maybe I'm the only one that finds it odd, apparently I am. I definitely didn't think I'd catch this much flak for being annoyed at the media's coverage of auburn in spite of our recent victory. And I definitely didn't expect this much sarcasm.

I wouldn't really expect to be getting any headlines because of our NC at this point. If Auburn somehow surprises everyone and wins a NC some year are you going to sit around a month after the game and still be talking about it?

I hope not. I hope we would be acting kind of like they are, time to move on and focus on us improving to beat them next year. Same with any other school. Mainstream recruiting has ended any chance of getting much publicity after NSD. Once NSD comes everyone's focus switches to the new year.

We should be proud of our team and celebrate, but should not expect rival fans to still be talking about it, or the media to constantly be writing about the fact.

In regards to Keenan Allen. Why the disappointment?

Does any Bama fan really want a premadonna who thinks he's bigger than an entire program by making demands that his brother also receive a scholarship?

I'm not unhappy at all that he didn't sign. I'm glad he didn't.

Coach Saban basically told him where to put his demands. That's something to be happy about . We actually have a coach who has character.

The other recruits that we didn't get? Whoopidity dooo.

How will we ever survive? We only had a recruiting class rated 3-5 nationally and addressed every need on the team.

As far as "Am I Happy"? Do I feel like we won the National Championship?

Uh......YEAHHHHHH!

Right now there's only one National Champ, and it's Bama!

I'm not going to fret about things that I have no control over and Nick Saban does.

I'm just going to sit back, enjoy the moment, and leave Bama football in his hands.

He seems to have the situation under control.

sip

No disappointment regarding Allen. As a matter of fact, I don't think he was brought up in this thread until your post, so I'm a little confused as to where that came from. And my OP really wasn't about recruiting. I only mentioned Region because it's added fuel to the fire lately.

Also, like I said in many, many, many other replies, this thread had nothing to do with my happiness as a fan. I'm still elated. I feel like we were the deserving team. I've said that all season. I should have used better wording in the thread title obviously.

Truthfully, nobody wanted to talk about BAMA because people are a bunch of haters. But we forced everyone to talk about us by winning the SEC and going to the NCG because since we were in that game, well the media needs something to do for a month so hurrah we are included in the conversation.

BAMA forced people to listen and we will be doing so for years to come so they might as well deal with it.

We're not gonna get all the hype that a U$C or Notre Dame would get after winning a championship. We can't do anything about that.

AU recruited as well as we did. We can't do anything about that or about AU fans trying to rub it in.

Just say "13" and walk away. I agree that the lack of attention from the nat'l media about our NC and AU's attempt to steer our attention away from it, but truthfully, we got #13 and can't control how others act. We can just pop in the DVD one more time and sit back, relax, and enjoy.

Sorry guy, but you plainly said "us" and it's pretty evident that it's pretty much "you" that's been distracted.

We won #13 and the CFB world as well as the media duly acknowledged our feat for a few days and moved on. That's the way the world works, especially the media. Our #13 is history to them and they're not historians, so they moved on to current events which is their real job anyway. Recruiting followed the bowl games and that's why it was in the news. Next month it'll be the NCAA bball tournament, followed by the start of the baseball season and the NBA play-offs, etc, etc.

It's all a never ending cycle and we can't expect the sports world to continue to kneel prostrate at our feet paying homage. Besides, we need to turn our attention to #14.

...As far as some of you questioning where my loyalties lie, what gives? The fact that I expected more talk, more coverage, and more fanfare over our championship makes you question who I pull for? Really? Some of you (not all of you) may need to brush up on your reading comprehension skills, or at the very least, read beyond the thread title. . .
I certainly don't question your loyalties (even though you are engaged to an Aubie ), but reading comprehension has nothing to do with disagreement with your premise. Maybe you could accept those alternate viewpoints with an open mind instead of getting defensive (as we should all do)...

:cheers2:
