Jax - Beer sales

Tallahassee sports radio guys are saying that there will be beer sales in the "Bud Zone" in the stadium, therefore, beer sales thoughtout the whole stadium.
No beer for UF-UGA, but thats due to SEC rules. Jax's stadium is city property, and the ACC doesn't have a neutral site "no beer" rule. FSU is the home team, so this falls under ACC rule. Interesting.
Caller said he had been at the FSU-Duke game in 1999, and FSU-BYU in 2000.

I was told it falls under CITY rules and Jacksonville Stadium rules. This has nothing to do with Alabama or FSU, the SEC or ACC.

I also understand that although Bama is in the East Stands we are the home team. I also believe Bama will be wearing home Red and FSU will wear Home Gold.

Dang. I thought you were talking about Jax beer. Any of you guys old enough to remember Jax? What did they call it for awhile, Fabacher?

Yes, both Jax and Dixie...

True, the beer sales fall under the typical Jacksonville regulations, but if this game were an SEC game (i.e. UGA/FL), there would be no beer sales.

FYI, Alabama will not be the home team. Alabama will be the visiting team. I believe Alabama will wear white.

But didn't we wear red for the away game in Nashville? Doesn't the home team choose which jersey color they want?

With the game being at 5 p.m., most people who feel the need and desire to get crap-faced, will already have done so. The beer consumption in the stadium will just help to add to some of the messes the poor stadium crew will have to clean up.

I once saw this dude "smuggle" liquor into a UA game in a ziplock baggy (UA vs. UT 1993). Guess what happened to the baggy?? We had to smell the moron all game, and he spent the entire time brooding about his lost booze. I wonder what he's doing now?

Yes, the home team chooses which color they want to wear. But, Vandy chose white. Therefore, Bama got to wear the home Red jersey. For the FSU game, FSU is the home team and they will wear their home jersey. Therefore, Bama will wear white.

Well maybe they will be fickle and choose another one and we will still wear red  We should know by 4:00pm kickoff :)

There's probably going to be a stadium full of drunk people for this game. The Florida State folks drink plenty of beer. They'll probably be wasted before kickoff. I'm sure a bunch of our frat guys will be there imbibing copious quantities of brewski too. It might be an ugly scene in the stands. These days, I hear the sorority girls get just as wasted as the guys and go wild like Lindsey Lohan. Someone in here mentioned that there were some girls getting crazy at the Georgia game. They were pretending they were humping the seats and dancing. Very ladylike stuff. :D

FSU already chose to wear their home jersey. Alabama is wearing white. End of story.

Not very wise for a first post. :PDT_thk:

I witnessed this in the GDI section, not the Greek

But yeah you're right, I'm sure the "FRATS" are going to fight, cuss and throw stuff on the field in Jax since they sell beer:rolleyes:.

Actually, you make a great point. Of all the students, I'm sure only Greeks could afford that $8 beer:wink:

Im sure the City of Jax knows how to run events like this. There will be plenty of policein that stadium. Throwing stuff and people falling down drunk won't be the norm. For starters, the Greeks started all that throwing stuff, and I bet the majority of them won't be at this game. There won't be a Greek section, only a student section. I wouldn't be concerned about it.

And beer sales at this game will be no different than at a NFL game. They will check IDs and all that stuff like that. If there were no beer sales, poeple would be getting tanked, that want to, and then going into the game. I for one, will have a few drinks, maybe a beer or two before going in while tailgating. Then I know I can buy 2-3 while in the game. Thats better than people sneaking in whisky and stuff and drinking the hard stuff. And all you drinkers know that the whiskey kicks in faster, and rougher than drinking beers.

Hell, you will probably sweat it out in the sun.

Remember too that it's a lot easier to get tanked at a game when you live 3 minutes from the stadium. I seriously doubt there will be as many drunk people at the game as most expect. UF and UGA fans are used to the "cocktail party" which is why it's become what it is. I just don't think it will be as bad as some of you think when we roll into town.

For the record...my Jim and Cokes that I drank during the Vandy game made it a lot more enjoyable...especially when it started to rain.

I agree with everything you said. It won't be as bad, plus the enviroment of a pro stadium dampers it a little.

Why can't people just get drunk like me and still behave themselves.

Its really is not that hard. If you can't handle the booze, wait til after the game.

sounds like some crybabies need to stay home where there won't be any of the evil beer. Just as you hate the evil beer, some people don't. Get over yourselves.

Sounds like some unresolved anger over having to watch the game in Tennessee. I'm sorry. Really, that's too bad...
