I hate that all this controversy has came out and tarnished his legacy somewhat. Weird how Joe always said that he was worried that when he stopped coaching he would die. Prayers to his friends and family.
I think it destroyed all the success he knew, JMHO.
I believe he will always have the caveat of the "child sex-abuse scandal involving Jerry Sandusky" that will haunt his legacy, forever. No matter how well he coached or how long his career was he washed it all away by his inactions.
While respecting the strong feelings of many posters, up until 6 months ago Paterno was by all appearances a titan of virtue, and it is possible that the most severe contempt might be reserved until there has been a conviction. Once this happens (as seems probable) then all the good works and legacy of Paterno are essentially undone. Until then, "Joe Paterno dead" is enough for me.
