Good Times was a spinoff of Maude, which was a spinoff of All in the Family. He later starred in another spinoff of AITF, 704 Hauser. It was about a black family that had moved into the Bunkers old house. It didn't last long.
And "The Jeffersons" was a spinoff of ATIT, too, which had its own horrific spinoff, "Checking In," which lasted a month.

And btw - I saw "Diff'rent Strokes" a decade earlier when it was two white kids and called "Family Affair."

It's hanging in a chow line...

It is difficult to understand it though.

Also for you TV folks he was in In the House and he was also in the movie Coming to America as Mr. McDowell.

Btw - I concur with the blathering lyrics, but Bern Nadette Stanis has said publicly that Dave Chappelle is wrong and it's "hanging in and jiving."

Not that it really amounts to anything just a fwiw.

A couple of years ago, my brother the news producer had Jimmie Walker on the morning show. Although my brother is in his mid-20s, he knows a lot about 70s pop culture from us older siblings. Said that Walker was a nice guy but when he first walked out for the first run, the entire news crew shouted "Dynomite" upon seeing him. Walker said it paid the bills but he really wished he'd never said that.

Also - Walker had an uncredited cameo in "Airplane." He's the guy who wipes off the windows while the plane is on the tarmac.

John Amos and Esther Rolle also hated how J.J and DY-NO-MITE took over Good Times.

He quit/got fired from the show for clashing with Norman Lear over the antics of the J.J. character. Rolle left the show a few years later for the same reason, though came back when they agreed to mature J.J..

I saw a documentary about the show once. It said Walker was never a problem on the set and was good to work with. He would spend weekends doing his standup routine in Las Vegas and would come back knowing his lines and ready to go.

I understand the show was supposed to be about the parents but Walker became a breakout star and sometimes that happens. If the show had been about a white family with two smart kids and one who is an idiot, would that be horrible?
