Not sure on the numbers but some of the "insiders" claim 27 but could be more depending on early departures.

i may be mistaken, but i thought the ncaa yearly limit on schollies was 25. maximum of 85 schollies on the roster at any time, but can only give out 25 per year.

Didn't mean for it to seem as an insult, but UF is supposedly second to Vandy in terms of admissions requirements. The word on Brown is that he has been working hard to meet the requirements but may fall a little short. If he can't get into UF and can at Bama, he will go to Bama rather than being placed by UF.

Not to burst anyone's bubble about who may or may not have the highest entrance requirements, but the one's set forth by the NCAA are more relevant when it comes to eligibility of athletes. For example, if an outstanding player does not meet Vandy's admission requirements, but does meet the guidelines of the NCAA, you can bet your rear end that Vandy will let the player in. I know this from first hand information. So don't think that John Brown would be turned away by Urban Meyer for academic reasons if he is eligible at the other SEC schools. Last time I checked, Florida was interested in winning football games. The "he only picked your school because he didn't have the grades to get into our school" excuse is a myth.

How could that be? I thought AU led the conference in academic standards.

Most programs over sign and there will be some attrition. We usually over sign by 2-3 each season. You are right on the numbers though of 25/85.

Jarvis Moss and Ryan Smith are leaving and it's believed Reggie Nelson will be leaving as well after his mother's passing due to breast cancer. Reggie has two younger siblings to look after now. She passed away right after the SECCG.

If I am not mistaken UF has 21 Sr's and has 4 Jr's leaving for the draft. They should be able to sign the full 25 scholorships this year. That usually translates into about 27 to 29 commits. Several commits will not qulify usually.

About the college/athlete enrollment. One of my best friends at school was getting recruited to play Lacrosse at Duke until well... His dad for fun asked the admission's guy what it took for a basketball player to get in, and he said, Coach K tells us, and hes in. Staying in could be a problem, but it is the NCAA requirements that you worry about, not individual schools.

Yep. But that's only for underclassmen. Juniors and Seniors have to read a longer word.
