Johnny Manziel processed...

Luck? Maybe, but he stayed "alive" to be able to create that "luck". The refs bad performance doesn't detract from Manziel's incredible performance. He had 2 interceptions - and that certainly swung things in Alabama's favor - but you had a much better team. Remove Manziel from aTm and they lose by 40.

Yeah, LUCK! Looked like Brett Farve's hail mary with the Jets. He had no idea where the ball was going. So yeah, it's luck.

He threw two picks. Both cost his team points. So you can get caught up in the other stuff. I'll stick to the stuff that actually wins and loses ballgames. While Verne and Gary were oohing and aahing over Junny. AJ was putting on an NFL like performance and leading his team to a win. 69% completion %, 4 td's and ZERO PICKS is better than what Manziel did. You have all the gowdy numbers you want but turnovers trump them. They basically cost aTm the game.

Manziel is an unbelievable player. He does things that really make him very, very difficult to prepare for. I've been telling friends and family for months don't worry about this game too much. I was very, very confident Alabama would win this game. I knew Manziel would have his moments. You just can't shut him down completely. It was much closer than I thought it would be. We all knew Alabama would have to score points to win the game today, but I did not think it would be quite the track meet that we all witnessed today.

I get what you are saying, but think that you are not giving Manziel enought credit. Either way, I don't really care enough to argue about it. If I were picking a QB for my team, it would be AJ (and I have made this clear many times). But liking AJ more doesn't mean that I can't see a great performance elsewhere. (BTW, great does not mean perfect)

I just can't call it a "great" performance. He threw two picks that played very heavily into the game shifting momentum and his team losing. His performance reminded me of a Brett Favre performance in where he'd make some of the most unbelievable plays. But would throw a pick or two that would cost his team the game. That's what I saw today. The kid can play. But in big games like this great performances aren't marked with crucial int's that basically cost his team the game. He put up big numbers and had some great individual plays but you can't just ignore those two int's. Especially the pick six.

We validated him. We gift wrapped the Heisman for him last season (what Manziel highlight reel have you seen that didn't have him dropping the ball and picking it up to throw for a TD in BDS?)...And today...You mean to tell me that we let this guy heave a prayer up to go for 96 yards? That we can't tackle him and allow him to heave up ANOTHER prayer and we can't at least bat it down with 3 defenders in the area? Just pathetic...

But in any event, we just handed him the Heisman again, especially if he keeps at his current pace and our defense turns into the defense that we know they can be. At the end of the year, they'll say: "Manziel put up the most yards given up in the 119 year history of Alabama football against the #1 ranked scoring defense in the country."

So yeah...if we processed anything, we processed his Heisman papers

I get what you are saying, and agree with one exception - I am also taking into consideration what the score would have looked like w/o Manziel.

I would compare his performance today to a baseball player who drives in all 9 runs in a 10-9 loss, but the loss came as a result of an error made by the same player. Yes, the error cost his team the game - but holy cow - he drove in 9 runs in a single game.

I agree--AJ was great today, but JM was better. Barring a major meltdown, I'll predict right now that Manziel becomes the next Archie Griffin and wins a second Heisman, and what's so ironic is it will probably be his performance against us in BOTH yrs that propels him to taking home the stiff arm trophy. Over 500 yds of total O is just plain amazing and something you probably wont see anybody else accomplish for a very long time.

That being said, I'd rather have AJ on my team than JM any day of the week.

How was he better? 4 TD's and NO INT's. 5 TD's and 1 INT and 1 pick six. He had lots more yards but those two INT's are huge!

I'm really with you buzz. I think aj was better. Manziel has escapabiltiy, but makes more poor choices. I will give him credit, he throws the ball well, but the nation should be talking about how stupid that was to throw that ball up for grabs. Our Db's were flat footed several times and that one should have been picked or at least knocked down.
We served it up for him two years in a row. He's good but it drives me crazy when we don't make the plays...
But... I'll take the win!

Manziel's a great player but you take away all those home cooking calls and this game isn't even close and Manziel's numbers aren't what they are. He killed his team with those two picks. McCarron had the better game. People get caught in numbers and flash but McCarron played the better game. You can't deny that Manziel has luck on his side as well. The hail marry reception was pure luck.

Yep! AJ was a GREAT game manager today. He managed to help us win! Thank God we have an awesome Offense. However, that was a TEAM win.

Bama guys you can celebrate for 24 hours and be back ready for Monday's practice. Remember the Akron Zips almost beat Michigan so get ready for CSU!

He won't win the Heisman --

1. JF Fatigue
2. He will lose 2-3 games
3. He won't play in any championship game
4. He probably won't finish the season
5. He doesn't respect authority

No Heisman .... And he'll come out in the draft -- and get picked by the Raiders in the first round -- I'm sure you can all write the story from there......it includes drugs, jail time, ugly hookers, and OJ Simpson

I don't blame Johnny for the pick six, that ball was tipped up in the air. The first pick seemed to be a result of miscommunication, and I can't tell who should take the blame.

I was shocked to see a Saban defense surrender that much yardage and points.

I don't like Manziel, but his talent is undeniable. He makes it look easy.

I think he'll lose to LSU, but not sure anybody else on their schedule has what it takes to beat them.

Really? Against who? Have you seen their schedule?

If they didn't lose today, their tickets to Pasadena were punched. That schedule is weaker than their defensive line.
