Many examples of why the English language is said to be, by far, the most difficult to master.
I’ve traveled extensively in SE Asia and some know English very well. Often, over lunch they have me explain idioms and words we use “incorrectly.” Unfortunately most of them only know Southerners. So they only know southern English.
When they try to use idioms, it’s quite hilarious. Here’s one example.
Translator- “They are blaspheming me!”
Me: Wut?
Translator: Repeats himself
Me: Oh! They’re making fun of you. Got it.
Translator: I assure you sir, there’s nothing fun about it.
Me: Haha, nevermind
