JP's Backup

Fanuzzi was the only other QB to get into a game outside JPW wasn't he.. hrmm or maybe not maybe McElroy did play seems he did but didn't complete any passes?

UNCLE RICO!!!

We will have Star for 4 or maybe even 5 years, on the team that is, but the starter needs to be the guy that gives us the best chance of winning, no matter who that is. That time is about a year and a half away and a lot could happen between now and then. Different players develop at different times, players get hurt and all sorts of things. To say now that Star needs to be the starter for the 09 season before we even have the spring practice for the upcoming 08 season and before he even graduates HS or enrolls at BAMA is jumping the gun just a bit. McElroy or Fanuzzi might develop enough to win Alabama's first Heisman trophy in 09, we just don't know as of yet do we. One thing I do know is that CNS will play the QB, in his opinion and the opinion of the other coaches, that give BAMA the best chance of winning no matter who that is.

By the way if you look at the stats and wins that McElroy and Fanuzzi put up in the big time talent rich Texas HS football, they are nothing to laugh at. They are good QBs also and with college time under there belts. I feel that now with Coach Mac coaching the QBs that we will have as much winning potential at QB as any other school in the country this year. We will have 4 quality players at this position. Unlike in years past when you hoped that the backup never "HAD" to play!
i would like to know what 4 quality quarterbacks you see on our roster, because i cant find them. If coach mcelwain can work with JPW some, he will be a solid starter that could even possibly be considered good. but past him we have none with experience. unless you somehow know about some transfers coming in (lol), then idk how you can say that we will have 4 quality players, and i consider quality as capable of starting and doing a respectable job.

Fanuzzi and McElroy both played 5A football in Texas. I don't think that you can accurately compare the 2 based on high school stats. McElroy could be the product of a system. Remember, he was on his way to being a product of another system at TTU until he switched. I like them both. They both played against great competition, a lot of which is playing Div. I football now. I think that right now it is a toss up. My guess is that they will both get equal time to prove who is the best fit for the backup position.

I don't know how accurate he is, but I do know that I lost $20 to uncle Rico when he threw the ball over them mountains over there. He can also throw a mean ribeye... :)

Not necessarily agreeing, but I assume he's talking about

1) JPW
2) McElroy
3) Fanuzzi
4) Star Jackson

I think the poster is wearing his crimson glasses and stating that all four of these guys could step in and be good players this fall. He's assuming that there aren't any Marc Guillons, Brandon Avaloses, Spencer Penningtons, Cliff Davises (03 signee), or Jimmy Barneses among them. Hey, they're wearing crimson... they must be good. Right?
