Basically said that Alabama was a "poser" team that the fans only care about football. We will be the 5 seed to lose to a 12 seed. I don't know about ya'll, but every team that plays for the University of Alabama is important to me.

The guy also stated that we, as fans, will be happy to know that football will be starting up and we can get back to our sport. He said we can be happy to know that the football team will win 6 games next year and that should make us happy. Man, I'm ticked!!!!

BEAT THOSE PANTHERS TO SHUT THESE PEOPLE UP!!!!!

Roll Tide!!

This is the same company, that in '92 said we couldn't even score on Miami in the Sugar Bowl. And last year said we didn't deserve to be on the same court with Stanford....oops, and with Syracuse.....oops! I too wish they would shut the hell up, but hey they have a right to be wrong I guess!!!!! Roll Tide Roll!!!!!!!!!! All the way to St. Louis!

I'm not sure if this will show up correctly as a link, but check out fran's picks for the tourney. Haha, what a dope. This guy has Bama picked to lose to Milwaulkee, I guess it is only fitting that his name is fran. I also think it is funny that everyone and their brother believe the Syracuse regional is the toughest but this fran guy has the Austin regional as the toughest. Two of the other fellows have Austin as the easiest, think he's off a bit? I was just curious if any of y'all saw this.

Was that Mike and Mike in the Morning? or Cowherd?

Doesn't sound like something "Mike and Mike" would say.

Cowherd. He has a habit of downing 'Bama but it does make his phone ring. I'm sure he's thinking, "mission accomplished."

Guess it was cowherd

I don't get to listen to espnradio that much, but I'm on a short 2 day vacation and this just ticked me off.

I think what really angers me is that these guys get on a show and just start downing stuff just to see what kind of rise they can get out of people. I agree with you, Mastershake. This only fires me up more too.

I just wish those people who don't know anything about our fan base and believe that we all just live for football season would take a look at what a bunch of people have already pointed out; Mark Gottfried's success at Alabama. The guy wins and is a great recruiter. He is a great addition to Alabama. And above all, he is young (compared to some of these coaches). He is leaving his mark. Today in the Huntsville Times he was quoted as saying something like he was so thankful to be doing this "at his Alama Mater". Folks, he lives and breathes Alabama!! What a great assett (sp)!

I also wish these so called "experts" would just talk about what they know; Big East and ACC basketball. I don't care how you slice it, that is all we ever hear about. It's like in baseball season all you hear about from espn is how great Boston and the Yankees are. Yes. I know they are 2 great teams, but there are other teams that are out there that are not located next to Bristol, Conn!!

Sorry to rant! I'll get off my soap box now :)

Roll Tide!!

Finebaum-ish

It seems like these ESPN radio folks are similar to Finebaum. They take viewpoints to stir up the most listeners. Probably oversimplfing things cause I don't listen to either. I say don't listen to them if this stuff gets to you.

Ahh, yes. Colin Cowherd. Never heard of him until his rant about Alabama football not being "nationally relevent(sp?)" anymore.

Never heard his show, period. I guess I'll keep it that way.

I'm with you wahpuh. Tony Kornheiser had the best sports show on radio. He's given us proper respect. On PTI sometime last year, he put us on his list as one of the top 3 football traditions in the nation.

Hate to play devil's advocate, but...

"Basically said that Alabama was a "poser" team that the fans only care about football. We will be the 5 seed to lose to a 12 seed. I don't know about ya'll, but every team that plays for the University of Alabama is important to me.

These comments also irritate me, but is he really that far off with his comments?!!! So many of our fans do have an unhealthy obsession with the football program and make it VERY easy for critics to laugh at and ridicule us for that obsession. Just look at our priorities as proof. We have a really good team playing in the NCAA tourney this week with a probable showdown with #4 seed Boston College on Saturday yet we decide to play the A-day game on the EXACT SAME DAY at almost the EXACT SAME TIME as that game. It's a freakin meaningless spring scrimmage that means nothing and we have an injury and scholly plagued team coming off another non-winning season and most people are STILL more excited about the freakin A-day game than a showdown to see who advances to the Sweet 16. I've been to several A-day games too so it's not a question of me not enjoying them. It just shows how little respect we have for our basketball program when it comes right down to it. We have nice crowds in basketball, but our head coach still has to beg people to come to games despite us having a perennial Top 25 basketball program. The football program, by comparison, SUCKS at the present time but we managed to draw over 50,000 fans to the Music City Bowl in Nashville while we're lucky to get 14,000 at a Bama basketball game in Tuscaloosa. Throw in the fact that SOME of us as Bama fans seem to be so insecure about our football history that we have to shove it down opponent's throats and we come off as obsessed and "living for football". I've seen and heard some people bragging about how Alabama football is "bigger than life" in Alabama as if this is going to impress outsiders or is something to be proud of. I love Alabama too but I can see where many outsiders think of us as football crazed nuts with messed up priorities.

Cowherd's comments were probably exaggerated and unfair but we just ask to be made fun of with our complete and total obsession with Alabama football to detriment and exclusion of everything else.

The spring game date was set several weeks ago and is played at the usual time (2 pm). The basketball team will be playing that saturday at 4:30 pm due to the draw it got. Besides, the A-day game will be over in time for the basketball game. No problem..

Yes, but the athletic department knew SEVERAL MONTHS AGO that the 1st round of the NCAA tournament was this weekend and that Alabama was highly likely to be playing this weekend. What if we had finished a litter stronger and ended up in the Nashville bracket?? I'd have a big problem with it as a fan if I wanted to attend the NCAA tournament game Bama was playing in just a few hours down the road. Would it have killed us to delay the A-day game one or two weeks so that this scheduling conflict wouldn't be an issue or is basketball so unimportant when it comes right down to it that they get relegated to the back page while a meaningless spring football game where many starters are being held out is played?!!

Delay the A-Day game a week? And miss our second consecutive game in the Elite 8? Or two weeks, and miss us in the final four? The A-Day game is not, and should not be, scheduled around the NCAA dates. Personally, if it were a conflict about which game I'd attend personally it would always be the NCAA hoops game instead of A-Day. But then I am a hoops nut.

A-Day game

Spring practice schedule including the A-Day game was mainly set by the Football coaching staff. Somebody somewhere could find a conflict with most any date they pick. Let's keep it real here..
