I always looked forward to what Saban had to say in his PC. After watching a couple CKD conferences last season, I knew it was a waste of time, and I have not paid them any attention since. This transcript shows that nothing has changed, just like nothing has changed with the team, regardless of what he says.

If you just read the transcript and not watch it, it is hard to find a coherent sentence. He changes directions mid-sentence a lot, and it is very hard to read the transcript and "get" what he's trying to say.

That’s how he would’ve had to present during the interview process as well. Byrne was so busy trying to save the immediate that the future took a backseat to it, and we might have to pay a heavy price for it.

So he acknowledges there were players with bouts of lack of effort. Yet his answer to that acknowledgement is way too politically correct. He never directly said one negative thing toward or about the players for it. They should have had their butts publicly called out as a group and DeBoer should have made it publicly known he wasn't going to tolerate it. But, he didnt...
I don't think he or any coach would be honest upfront to divide the locker room. What you hear up at podium might be different in locker room. Hopefully they're handing this in house.

Saban and other coaches have addressed the entire team behind the podium. No one is saying call out an individual player. But coming across as if the lack of effort is being glossed over and not taken seriously is a very bad look. This guy needs to get public support back on his side and get it fast. Doing the word salad, informationless, emotionless press conferences does nothing to do that. Especially when things from last season obviously haven't gotten fixed all offseason.
