Link: Keiwone Malone's high school coach on Nick Saban: "He did it the right way"

Pure crap! Unlike "wonderboy" up in obnoxiousville Coach Saban actually knows the NZAA rule book.

Re: Keiwone Malone's high school coach on Nick Saban: "He did it the right way"

I think the article has been removed from the Commercial Appeal website.

That's weak if they just remove it and carry on. I couldn't care less about an apology, but if they just remove the article like nothing ever happened, then that is weak. Either leave it up and stand by it, or clear the record on irresponsible journalism.

Man, if I did something like that at work, I'd be fired.

Re: Keiwone Malone's high school coach on Nick Saban: "He did it the right way"

If I had to venture a guess I would say The Commercial Appeal got an earful from a lot of Bama fans and somebody in The UA Compliance Department and hence the article being removed. I think an apology is in order.

Actually it is still there or at least part of it, as I did not see the original link. The article "Go Ahead, Hum This Trade" makes reference to the incident.

Personally, I think this has been orchestrated by Lance Thompson under Lame Kitten's direction. I think he put a bug in Ron Higgins ear. Saying this is how CNS does it. Unfortunately (or fortunately) if that is the case, that will backfire. The high school coach was forced to defend the incident. I do not think putting high school coaches in a position to defend themselves over one of their players and take away the luster of the players' comittment leaves them with warm fuzzies. Kitten already antagonized the Pahokee coaches and now he may be annoying a coach in his own state. The entire Lame Kitten tenure is marked with this type of short sighted thinking, so to me it fits.

Re: Keiwone Malone's high school coach on Nick Saban: "He did it the right way"

The UT faithful better pray that Lame Kitten doesn't get up and run his mouth about Nick Saban like he did Urban Meyer. He's got to venture into Alabama at least twice this coming year (SEC Media Days and the 3rd Saturday in October).

Memphis prep football coach says no violation occurred when Alabama coach Nick Saban met propsect Keiwone Malone
Keiwone Malone's high school coach said Sunday that Alabama coach Nick Saban did not violate NCAA rules in speaking with the Memphis wide receiver.

Mitchell Road coach Nathan Cole said Saban "did it the right way" during a visit to the high school campus the week before this year's National Signing Day on Feb. 4.

Malone wound up committing Feb. 5, becoming the first expected addition to the Crimson Tide's 2010 signing class.

Keiwone Malone's coach says Saban did not violate NCAA rule
Malone had said Saban commented on the fact that he wore a Dolphins hat. He did not specify whether Saban made the remark that day or in a later phone conversation.

Alabama officials had no comment.

"At the time, Keiwone wasn't even in school, so Coach Saban only saw him as he was leaving and Keiwone was driving in," Cole said. "I said, `Coach, that's Keiwone over there.' And he told me, `I can't talk to him. That's a violation, but I'll talk to him later. He told me he couldn't talk. And Keiwone called him after signing day, and they talked then."

Re: Keiwone Malone's high school coach on Nick Saban: "He did it the right way"

So, as soon as Mitchell's Coach realizes who started all of this, that will be two great recruiting areas, that Coach Kiffin has alienated UT from. This does not veen count all of the other H.S. coaches who have watched what is going on, and read the writing on the wall.

Ron Higgins wants to change the way the coaches view writers

FWAA > Members > The Fifth Down

But I plan to do more than shake hands at public functions. I want to shake up the way our profession is being treated by the coaching establishment.

Ron maybe you could stop printing lies. That would be the first step. Ron the Spot Light is on you bud.

I'm tired of being told, "You can't." You can't talk to assistant coaches, you can't talk to freshmen, you can't watch the scrimmage, and you can't watch practice (unless you're part of an ESPN allaccess crew that coaches love for recruiting exposure).

Well good luck with that Ron. You are off to a great start.

Any coach who says, "I respect you guys (the media) and the job you do" is a flat-out liar.

Great Start buddy.

He is the president of the Football Writers Association of America. Are you kidding me. That organization is in big trouble. Ethics, Credibility, and Honesty are not high on some of the writers list. They should have got someone like Cecil Hurt who has credibility, ethics, and who is honest. :BigA:

THAT was in January of 2008. Maybe they have a new President now.
