Mrs. Basket Case and I are going to the Kentucky game this fall. Neither of us have ever been to Lexington, so I’m wondering if any TideFans posters have suggestions for parking and/or pregame activities.

I’ll probably ask on a Kentucky board as well, so any suggestions for something similar to TF would be helpful.

FWIW, we’re driving and staying at a Residence Inn on the north side of town.

I went to the game 10 years ago. We parked near the stadium. It’s on the outskirts of campus with lots of parking around it. I connected with the fans on wildcatnation.net. They were great and invited us to their tailgating tent on game day. We ate at Joe Bologna’s near campus. They had great pizza and wings!

I was at the game in Lexington as well 10 years ago. With Bama in town, you will have to get to the stadium early for the parking near it. UK football fans were very nice as Bama Matt said. My wife and I will be there again this year, its a two hour drive from where we live.

I was at the game in 1981 when we were losing in the 4th quarter. Our 2nd team qb pulled away from a sure sack and ran for a key first down. We went on to score a td and added a field goal to win 19-10. Any knowledge I have of logistics is way out of date.

I had a blast ther about six or seven years ago (part of the SEC stadium tour with my dad - they would've beaten UF for the first time in 30+ years if they not left a WR completely uncovered at least twice at critical moments in the game).

No hints or tips, but it was an enjoyable experience.

Humorous story - I had some old-head KY fan yell at me while I was going to the bathroom, literally saying he wanted to fight me (I was wearing my Bama gear). It was so odd, he didn't seem drunk and we had no other interaction whatsoever (heck, I was puling for KY (sorry Bazza)). Made me laugh, it was so random. Only stadium where someone has tried to pick a fight with me, and it was a dude not a day under 75 at that. :)

I was there several years ago to watch KY play Jax State. It was an odd experience. Granted it was their FCS game but I didn’t notice any buzz about the game. We went out to dinner the night before and talked to a few people and some seemed vaguely aware a game was even going on. The lead story on the front of the sports page on Saturday was the opening weekend of Keeneland.

A guy at the game said he hoped we won so they could fire Joker Phillips.

They have a few rabid fans, but for the most part they are ho-hum about football and off the chart on basketball. I really don't know which fans are more arrogant: Kansas, UNC or UK?

I've not been to Lexington so I have no "advice" but I'd be willing to bet there will be a strong Bama showing at the game. I'd even thought about trying to make that game but it's still 6 hours from the western NC mountains.

I suppose the Cat fans will do a better job than the Vandy fans in supporting the home team. I've been at Vandy so many times when the crowd was at least 50% Crimson.

Outstanding venue! I have been going to games up there for decades. Wildcat fans are very enthusiastic and supportive of their team in my experiences. There is a great in-game tradition of the PA exclaiming “another Kentucky first down!” when applicable. It gets a little old if you’re pulling for the visiting team, but it’s still a great tradition and keeps the Wildcat fans rowdy.

The 81’ and 03’ UK/UT games in Lexington may rank among the coldest conference games ever played. Both were played in late November, and I’m not sure the temps got above 32 for either game. The 50’ UK/UT game played in Knoxville may have been the coldest ever, but I digress. That game featured a couple of head coaches that each arguably had the best team in the land. Both teams upset national powers (Oklahoma and Texas) in the bowl games to finish 11-1. The coaches I reference were Paul “Bear” Bryant and General Robert R. Neyland.
