Re: Kenya Drake Appreciation Thread

This was something that I did not see since I had young grandkids in the house talking to me during the game.

Is this something that the SEC will deal with if this was intentional? You know, like that center for MSU in the
LSU game.
Not sure what the SEC will do but they need to do something. It was plain as day and intentional.

Heart goes out to Drake and his family, I couldn't imagine the loss they are feeling right now. But I would urge him and those close to him not to rush back, let him heal and his natural abilities will return but please allow the time for the body to heal. Thanks and RTR!!!

I too thought of KD as as soon as I woke up this morning. He really seemed to have put it all together this year, and I hate that he has been hit with this.

All I can find on the web are repeats that his foot was pointed the wrong way, he was flown to Birmingham, and he'll likely need surgery and be out for the rest of the year. Does anyone have more specific information? And if not, anyone have a guess as to when we might?

While the loss hurts, KD's injury was the worst thing that happened today. Praying he will recover fully.
I agree. Not worried about the loss near as much as I am for this young man. Praying for a full recovery.

I imagine unless Coach says something during one of his pressers or Drake releases something we won't see anything at all.

The sight of that happening and then rewinding to see how it happened is going to haunt my mind for quite a while. Extremely unfortunate and gruesome.

Kenyan - get well soon man. I wish you the best with your recovery and hope to see you back on the field at BDS in the future! We're all thinking about you.

Thanks for the reply. Hoping, as I know all here are, that whatever the actual damage is it can be rectified, fully and in reasonably short order. HANG IN THERE, KD!

Re: Kenya Drake Appreciation Thread

I also woke up a couple of times in the night and thought of Kenyan, and hoped that they gave him something good for the pain. Losing Kenyan was worse than losing the game for me anyway. You hate to see any kid hurt like that but knowing his potential and possible future playing on Sundays, just made that all the more painful to watch. Kind of like when Lattimore blew out his knee with USCe.

One thing that I was wondering was in the post game rehash, the sideline reporter girl said that she asked CNS about Drake and he said no one had told him anything about him or something to that effect (I didn't record it). That just seemed like a strange answer to me, that no one would have said to him, hey it is broken. I am not sure if she talked to CNS at the half or after the game, like I said I didn't record it, I just know they were talking to her during the Ole Miss field rush. And I don't know if he was just waiting for an "official" word before he said anything. Since the medical staff was probably trying to get Kenyan flown out of Oxford, maybe there wasn't anybody around to really fill him in on it. Like I said it just seemed like a strange response to me. Especially for a detail kind of guy like CNS. Anyway, I was just wondering if anybody else caught that.

Prayers for KD. I agree with the person who noted that KD seemed to have it all together this season. Winning and losing a ballgame pales into insignificance when compared to an injury like this.

Now I am irritated. That deserves a SUSPENSION from the SEC office! Is that something that they teach in the state of Mississippi!

Thanks for posting that link TideMan09.

Seems that I've heard that Coach Freese is a devout Christian. Is that what this Christian Coach teaches his players? If he is a Christian, then I'd like to see him suspend #7 before the SEC office does anything!

Re: Kenya Drake Appreciation Thread

Like others, I have thought more about Kenyan as I have the loss today. He tweeted earlier today thanking everyone for the love and support he had received. On of the good qualities of twitter is the ability to instantly show someone support, and I like many, many others, sent him a message with prayers for him yesterday right after it happened. A lot of fans of OM and other fan bases sent him support too, and that's very good to see as well.

I just posted on his FB page. Thx for the link. As someone that sees him every away game I already miss his sweet smile. He's such a nice and respectable young man. Roll Tide Kenyan!

Re: Kenya Drake Appreciation Thread

I think Drake will be alright. He'll come back next year and be a solid #2 behind Henry. I don't think his career is in jeopardy. Don't have much to base that on, just a hunch.

Re: Kenya Drake Appreciation Thread

People are saying that his career is over after that injury and I don't think it is. I just pray that it was a clean break and he recovers well. Some people are out six weeks, some out 12 weeks, some are out for a year. Drake will come back next year. His mentality though will be an issue. I think we'll find out more at noon.

Re: Kenya Drake Appreciation Thread

From what I am hearing it is a dislocation with a fracture of the tibia. I commented during the game thread I thought it was a dislocation. I am hoping this is correct. If so he could be back for playoffs or bowl game.

Re: Kenya Drake Appreciation Thread

There were talks he might look at the draft after this season. But I am pretty sure he will want to come back to raise his stock considerably and work on some of his weaknesses. Hoping for a confirmation today of the injury and a speedy recovery.

Re: Kenya Drake Appreciation Thread

He may still go even after his injury and take his chance in NFL... If he comes back by Auburn game... (unlikely) and plays well in that, SEC Championship and Playoff, then it'll be enough for him to leave. Otherwise he'll be back.

Re: Kenya Drake Appreciation Thread

Hes out 8-10 weeks. Broken leg and dislocated ankle. Saban said injury is similar to Derrick henry. So........ We'll see how well he recovers in 6 weeks and figure out something.
