Would you rather see touchbacks or the deep kick to the goal line or 1 yd line forcing the runner to return the kick?
I was hoping to see L. Tiffin boom kicks this year out of the endzone. But in doing so you never have the opportunity for a fumble recovery like we had against V. Tech. Of course, the other side is the possibility of a long return for TD like we also saw against Tech.
I wonder what the coaches would rather have.

I prefer for the return man to take it at the goal line or 1 yard line and run it out. I just hope that the 98 yard return for Tech and the similar 90+ yard return last year for Clemson were the only times we see this against Alabama for a long while.

I would rather kick it out of the stadium or out of bounds than have these dangerous guys take it on a dead run. I'm basing my opinion on our current defense. I don't think many teams will move it 65 yards on them.

Leigh is certainly capable of consistent touchbacks. During warm-ups, he was booming them nearly through the end-zone.

But for my money, I like the strategy of kicking it high and forcing their return men to field it inside the 5 and bring it out. Not only does it give our gunners a chance to pin them deep or force a turnover, but it also means that some of their best athletes get hit more.

And looking ahead to next season with Cade Foster, we'll have one more guy out there bringing the wood.

That said, I was really impressed with Leigh Saturday night. He kept us in the first half with some clutch kicks that weren't at all gimme's, not to mention a touchdown-saving tackle. He wasn't perfect, but he was very good.

I agree. Let them go 80 yards on every possession against our defense and see how they fare. We can get our turnovers elsewhere...

Ditto. Nobody's offense is going to have consistent success against our defense if they had to start from the 20 every time.
