I noticed something last season that continues to show itself, and explains, at least to me, why we have so few kickoff go into the endzone.
Watch Foster when you get the opportunity, he spends longer than most setting the ball on the T, and if there is any wind, often has it topple over = WHY?
He is leaning the ball away from himself and to the right.
Most of us saw his high school clips, or at least read of his powerful leg.
There is no doubt in my mind that he can put the ball out of play on a regular basis.
But it is physically impossible to kick a ball as far with it leaning away from you.
We are most often stopping the returns from the 15 to the 25.
Just my opinion - he is obviously being coached not to kick into the endzone, but to get all the height possible.
I think Coach/staff are fully confident in the coverage team and are playing kickoffs for possible turnovers instead of an automatic 1&10 at the 20.
