My guess is that Kiffin wants to beat USC as strongly as Saban wants to beat LSU.

Of course, I knew Kiffin was famously fired as the USC head coach in mid-season 2013. What I did not know, until reading the linked article, was that 18 players on the current USC team had played for Kiffin.

USC's head coach, Helton, was hired at USC by Kiffin as Kifffin's OC. USC's DC, Pendergast, was hired by Kiffin as Kiffin's DC. There are five coaches on the USC sidelines that coached under Kiffin out there.

The second article linked tells about how familiar Helton is with Kiffin. Helton even knows Kiffin's tell...
“If you ever hear him whistle, he’s getting ready to change the play," said Helton, who was Kiffin's offensive coordinator at USC and is now the Trojans' head coach.

Kiffin's been quoted saying his firing at USC was the low point of his career. Tonight is shaping up to be an especially fun game to watch.

Lane Kiffin just stuck another feather is his cap/Visor.

Looking more and more like the major football schools are taking note of the 'Reformed' Lane Kiffin. Gonna be a lot of openings at the end of the season and Lane will be on a lot of AD's speed dials...

Helps that he's managed to keep his nose clean under Saban. I don't know that it's as much "reformed" as "muzzled".:) Time will tell.
