"Kiffin should stop mouthing off'

I know that's not y'alls words, it's the article's words, but when is the last time Kiffin "mouthed off"? 4, 5, 6 months ago?

He came in, made comments between December and February, that got the fan base (and others) fired up, and has been pretty well silent since then other than talking football...Seems to me he has "stopped mouthing off"

Hey coach Kiffin--think on these--when Urban's giv'n you a Kick'n.
  • Learning to speak in two languages is not nearly as hard as learning to keep your mouth shut in one.
  • A sensible prayer: “O Lord, you have given me a mind, and you have given me a mouth. Help me keep the two connected.
  • Half the world is composed of people who have something to say and can’t, and the other half who have nothing to say, and keep on saying it.
  • If your mind should go blank, do not forget to turn off the sound.
  • It isn't the things that go in one ear and out the other that hurt as much as the things that go in one ear; get all mixed up and then slips out of the mouth.
  • ROLL TIDE ROLL!!

I will agree with all of it except that last one :)

We can control our actions, but not our consequences. Your coach will have to lay in this bed for awhile or just win some big games to change this perception. It worked for Rich Rod, maybe you guys could extend practices;)

I agree with you 100% on this...

I'm just saying that the media and message boards are acting as if he has continued to "mouth off" since he's been here, and like I said above, I may be having a Roger Clemens misremembering moment, but I don't recall anything he has said since at least March, possibly prior to that...So I just think the media's take of "keeps mouthing off" or he "needs to stop mouthing off" is not accurate...

Dr. Granny Holtz said last night that "Kiffin needs to make at least six friends so that when he dies his wife doesn't have to pay for pallbearers."

His post-UCLA game comments were not very gracious to the victor. From the linked article:

But how do you explain Kiffin's comments after Tennessee's upset loss at home to UCLA?

"We should have won that game by a couple of touchdowns," he said one day after his team fell to the Bruins. "We ran the ball a lot in the red zone, which is unusual for us. We normally throw it more down there, so we had to settle for too many field goals and not enough touchdowns."

Not to be obtuse, coach, but whose fault was that?

Kiffin sounded like one of the fans who watched the game from the seats, not the man in charge of calling all those running plays, or failing to prepare his offense for the pressures of a final drive with less than two minutes to play. He seemed shocked that his quarterback, Jonathan Crompton, was criticized for going 13 for 26 with no touchdowns and three interceptions. "He is a college kid," Kiffin said. "It blows me away sometimes how much hatred there is toward him when you hear a radio show and people call in with comments. Quarterbacks get frustrated when guys aren't doing things right around them."

Especially when those guys include the head coach.

Kiffin went so far as to blame the cosmos for the UCLA loss. "The ball just didn't bounce our way," he said. "They had some good karma working for them with those fumbles. I don't know of anybody who has six fumbles and five of them bounce back."

Yeah, if you read the article I linked from the Tennessean with the President's comments about the "talk" he had with Kiffin, you can see why he has been quiet lately.

Graciousness left ut a few years ago. Kiffin simply reflects the monkey urine stained mindset which has become ut

Too bad really, they used to be a respected foe. Apparently that was not enough.
