Kim Jung Dumb - and Dangerous?

I wish he would, it would help the Democrats in the election. If the Democrats somehow won a majority in the WH and both Houses of Congress, the Democrats will be coming for the despots foreign and domestic.

South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol on Thursday ordered troops not to wait for orders to retaliate in the event of an attack, saying the military "should smash the enemy's desire for provocations immediately," Yonhap reported.

Kim knows his regime would cease to exist with a war vs South Korea.

In my travels I learned something about the real world. In 1939-1940, Belgian authorities issued "we're going to war" alerts four times, only to eventually issue the "false alarm" signal.
In May 1940, the Belgian authorities issued yet another a "we're going to war" alert. Many did not take the alert seriously. Except this time the Germans really did invade.

Kim makes me queasy because I'm not sure he's sane. A sane person is his seat would know that, if he launched an attack on South Korea, the life expectancy of his government would be measured in days if not hours.

But insane people don't think logically...which is the scary thing.

Serious question: Suppose Kim launches. How much would Japan be involved in the reaction? I'm thinking a lot because they're the most vulnerable target. I'm told that the Japanese navy is formidable and I'm guessing they could launch some nastiness themselves.

Between the ammo expended in Ukraine and what would be needed in Korea, should it come to that, we could get a history lesson on the need for constant preparedness.

At least so long as Russia, China and North Korea exist...

I agree, but would expand the idea to apply even when those collapse. There always have been and always will be despots. And they're not always logical or even sane.

Some people get where they are by physical force, and that's the only thing they understand.

Even then, there's the sanity / logical thinking aspect that they may lack. To me, that's the truly scary thing.

You’re kidding right? Because China, Hamas, the Taliban, Hezbollah, Iran, the Houthi’s, and Russia don’t seem to mind doing whatever they want right now. I agree they would come for the domestic but they don’t seem to mind the foreign at all. If things seem more out of control before the election that will hurt Biden.

The main difference is that despots in the past could only unleash thousands of men. These days, they can unleash - what? Even Kim has a small collection of nukes he can fire at the US...
