I like...nay...LOVE this kid as a RB, BUT...When , pray tell, was he ever the best back in the SEC?

His breakout season, he didn't make any impact until after their game against us.

Aaaaand, in his breakout year, the reigning (at the time) Heisman Trophy winner in Mark Ingram was still around. So was Trent Richardson..and Marcus Lattimore...and Michael Dyer...and Jeff Demps...

And Davis didn't suit up at all last season...
sooooooo...at what point was he ever the best back ?

This. He wasn't even the best back in the SEC West, let alone the entire conference. He would've been a 3rd stringer for us in 2010. I hope Lacy puts this up on his wall and shows up big when we play Arky.

His thinking must be like this - "I'm going to make myself sound real good. We don't have anywhere near the experience at WR. Plus, we have a lame duck coach. I'm the star of this team, so I'm going to make everyone know I'm the best in the conference... Like I was during.... Crap. What season was I the best?"

When was he the best RB in the SEC to begin with..I must have missed that news flash..He obviously wrecked a motorcycle & took a nasty bump to the head..

I here what you guys are saying and yes it is cocky but some of you are just shruging him off like a chump. If they can protect the passer and he is healthy they are going to have to be dealt with.

That's said every year about Arkansas..Hasn't happened yet..You may be right though..This may be the year..Sometimes bad times will bring a football team together & they'll have a great year..Reckon we'll see..

If he comes back at full health I think he has the chance to be the best in the SEC. With Trent, Dyer, and Crowell gone and Lattimore got hurt halfway through the season while Davis had the entire season to recover. But I don't think he was the best in the SEC in any previous season....that kind of makes me think of the auburn running back who said he was the best in the state in 2009

Thanks for letting us know you're present. ;)

No one is shrugging him off. Everyone is simply pointing out the other running backs during his first two years in the SEC. Was he better than Ingram in 2010? What about Dyer? Lattimore? Richardson? Better than all 4? Very unlikely.

He does not play in 2011 because of a leg injury, but we are to believe he is the best running back in the conference? And that he is at the level he was in 2010? I'll have whatever Knile is having because it is obviously some good stuff.

I'm sure he'll have a great game against......Ole Miss. LOL. Jokes aside, I am in no way knocking this kid's talent but as mentioned above there were and are a lot of RBs that rank above him as the best, IMO. But with that being said, I think it's great he has confidence. Let him go out and prove it on the field. That is the only place where the best matter.

Reminds me of another former SEC RB who said this:

"I know I'm the best back in the state. I bet, if you went and broke down film and asked teams in the SEC who is the best back in the state, I mean, I feel like it's me."

No way to rate a player who has an injury that costs an entire season. He thinks he's great. He'd better. But best in the league, at any time including 2012? No for his previous years; for 2012, call me about Thanksgiving. If their o-line doesn't play better than it did last year, it won't matter how good he is against decent SEC defenses.

He is good but if Lacy is 100% back he will rank up there as one of the SEC's best. I think Lacy will get a lot of touches but Fowler, Sims and Yeldon will get some serious playing time.
