According to footballzebras.com, Olson will be in the white cap for the game. I can’t find much on him except that he’s come up through the Sun Belt and has only been getting involved with the SEC over last year or two. At least he’s not one of the usual suspects.

I read the ref crew for today was the highest rated crew. The reason they never called a Bama game this season is because the line judge is a Bama graduate. Today, this crew is calling our game with a different line judge. So glad we don't have Jason Autrey's crew.

Post season uses mixed crews so the referee doesn't work with their regular crew members. Some conferences give their #1 rated official at each position the conference championship game and some give them their top bowl game. Some mix it up and some do both. In general though the conference championship officials are going to be among the top rated at their position in the conference.

It was close for sure. It's a judgment call if the brief moment the ball touched the ground helped him complete the catch then it would be incomplete. But replay felt it was a catch so I'm going with that. The grader and supervisor may think differently but things are that tight they generally will support the call. The officials get hired to make those judgment calls and they are often not black and white. Some calls aren't right or wrong. They are just calls. You make it and move on.

That's what I figured. He had complete control and his knee was touching the ground before his upper body hit the ground. After he hit the ground, the ball did move a little. IMG_3237.jpeg
