LA Gov. Bobby Jindal "We expect to beat them bad & be rude guests"

Glad to here. But, when I was in LA, it was very difficult to understand what people where saying (at least the ones I tried to talk to). I thought I was in a third world country.
That Cajun dialect is difficult to get used to, but I love it! Of course, I'm convinced that's the origin of my younger daughter's difficulty pronouncing her R's. After Katrina, our work crew on the house was composed entirely of Cajuns and my little girl was only 3 and 4 during those many months of rebuilding and spent a lot of time at home with her daddy and the work crew. She was dropping R's before we knew it and now she sounds like she stepped out of Houma, LA.

Good story, thanks. I do understand what you mean and I know there are lots of great folks in LA, if I lived there like some friends of mine have, I know I would love it there as the people are great and they have some gooooood food and then I would be able to understand them!! It's all me, I don't get out much.

Gov. Bobby JIndal is FAR AND AWAY a better governor than that idiot Democrat Louisiana had during Katrina. He has provided leadership and turned a lot of things around down there. His leadership during the BP thing was a much needed improvement over the lack of leadership in any crisis in the past. He's a smart man.

Some people here hate his politics, so they're taking their shots. Personally, as a Bama fan, I just laughed at his statements. He's talking trash...supporting his team. That's fine with me....but I expect Gov. Bentley to take the high road and not trash talk before a football game. All this trash talk will come back and haunt some LSU fans - Mark. My. Words.
Is this thread about politics or football? Can someone not like what the Gov. of Louisiana said without being anti-Republican? I find it funny that a lot of Bama fans are defending his remarks about being rude to UA. I think we all can agree that a class team can win at an opponent's field without being rude. Bama and their fans do it all the time. I should say for the most part they do win without being rude. lol

I will get in the way of a good political discussion on the football board if I have to. There are two things I will not discuss on this site and that is politics and religion. If the political smack continues this one will be moved to the NS board. Carry on.

No kidding while transitting the Mississippi Sound and Louisiana waterways back in the day I would have to communicate bridge to bridge with Cajuns on the radio. Sometimes it would take several of us to figure out what they said. lol

I have actually been to Houma, LA. with a buddy to visit his family. Great folks who are very friendly but there seemed to be more Cajun broken French spoken there than English.

It ain't broken, just amalgamated.
I worked for a company in Houma for 11 years. It's where I learned what a "hose pipe" was...

I defended him because people reacted like he told LSU fans to be idiots. He never did that. I don't think Coach Saban and the team were very nice when they played at Penn State, Florida and Ole Miss. Personally, I think that's what Jindal was referring to.

To be honest, I couldn't tell whether it was or not. I just notice some posters taking shots at Gov. Jindal's intelligence, etc., and in a round about way, his politics. Those same posters are some that I know from the NS board to not be of the same political "stripe" as Gov. Jindal. You can think his comment was stupid (which it was) without insulting the man himself.

He's a good governor who has no sense of what's appropriate for a governor to say before a big football game. What he said was silly. I expect our own Governor, a Bama alum, to conduct himself with more dignity and I'm sure he will.

Just so everyone knows I was not just addressing your comments even though I quoted you.

Political stripe comments belong on the NS board. Helmet stripe comments on the football board.

I didn't defend Jindal's comments because he's Republican, and the assumption those of that defended him because of his politics is pretty ridiculous. I defended him because people reacted like he told LSU fans to be idiots. He never did that. Good deal. I agree with you. But you have to admit the Govs choice of words was at the very least ill advised.

As I said above, my intent was to not address anyone individually but the political commentary back and forth. I was not representing or commenting on either political side. The way the thread was headed could have led to a NS type of 'disagreement' or heated political argument. The discussion should be more about what he said rather than a political argument like you said.

And Bama is not going to be a good host, LSU folks. Oh, we'll be hospitable and nice, because we're good folk. But on the FIELD, you probably won't like the outcome of that game. We want to send you home unhappy.

ROLL TIDE.

Since when aren't LSwho fans rude guests or hosts..........
Um, quite frequently. Just last weekend my husband and daughter (both Auburn fans) visited Baton Rouge and were invited to join LSU fans at their tailgate. Didn't know them from Adam's housecat. Made them feel welcome before and after the game.

That's always been my experience as well.

Mine as well. I've been to six games there.

Disagree all you like. There are no worse losers (or winners for that matter) in the SEC than UGA. LSU can't hold a candle to them, in my book.
Now that's the SavannahDare I've gotten very fond of. :)

You've been so protective of anything LSU I was starting to wonder if you'd gone soft on us. But I see you still have some fire in the belly towards the Georgia fans.

I would bet if we voted, LSU fans would get more general animosity from this board than the Georgia fans would, but that's just my opinion.

From Dictionary.com
rude adjective, rud·er, rud·est. 1. discourteous or impolite, especially in a deliberate way: a rude reply.
2. without culture, learning, or refinement: rude, illiterate peasants.
3. rough in manners or behavior; unmannerly; uncouth.
4. rough, harsh, or ungentle: rude hands.
5. roughly wrought, built, or formed; of a crude construction or kind: a rude cottage.

On the field - they all apply
In the stands - I'm sure you can find at least one that you think might apply to oppossing fans.

At the tailgate - I expect you'll find only friendly fan banter and none of the above will apply.

I'll tell you, I used to enjoy Georgia football, but over the years I've observed that they are very rude hosts to visiting teams and horrible guests (I'll never get over that trashing of The Quad a few years ago) to have on your campus. At least LSU fans maintain their sense of humor (for the most part) and are realistic in terms of their team's abilities. UGA fans tend to the delusional side. Perhaps that's why they have a rivalry with AU - they're locked in a battle for most deluded fan base.

I like Bobby and he would be a poor politician not to embrace the whole LSU experience. Which by the way, is one of the best in college football.

Like I've said before, we have great fans but a few could use some skin thickner IMO. :biggrin2: :BigA:
