Last TD was incredibly high risk

The play worked, and we can happily enjoy the result. It was at least an equal chance that it would have not worked. It isn’t the style of play calling that sits well with me. I like high percentage of success play calling. I don’t like putting so much responsibility on QB1 (high traffic, pinpoint throws in high pressure situations).

It would not have worked against a better team than Auburn.
Auburn’s D is dang good…it was a great, ballsy play!!! Enjoy it!!! Jeez….

I hear you...except that AU's DL is as good and deep as any in CFB. After the 1st quarter they stepped up and blunted everything that we tried to do...

My dad has not watched college football very much in years, but I told him the reason this could potentially be a football game is because Auburn does have a good defense

Reality, though:

if Auburn's wide receivers could, you know, CATCH the ball, we lose last night.

Not being Eeyore, just being honest.

We should have been able to grind it and put it away, not play video game "let me see if this works."
If a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his butt every time he hops, either. We said that about us losing at FSU. It is what it is and we won the game.

To overcome the “voodoo” you have to play aggressive. For his greatness, CNS never could. He always coached tight down there, and as a consequence, his teams played that way. The only time he didn’t was when AU was really bad and we were really good (2011).

I think the only way to coach successfully against Auburn is to have a healthy dislike for them because Auburn is going to give everything they have for that 1 game...

This! When playing Auburn AT Auburn youve got to be the aggressor or it allows room for the crazy antics that can happen. Though I didn't initially agree with the call it was the right mindset and ultimately the right call. You can't let them dictate the flow of the game.

Can't we just enjoy the win? That said, it was absolutely the right call. I even floated the idea myself before we trotred the offense back out there. I feel very confident about our defense being able to keep a team out of the endzone, but a field goal is a different story. If we kick, there's a good chance it goes to OT and we do not want that

I'm sure the thinking was if we don't make it they have a long way to go, our defense is playing well and the Auburn QB was not accurate with his passes all night so the odds of them getting close enough for a FG was poor. If it would have happened them we didn't deserve to win.

Nobody even mentioning the fact that a FG attempt would not have been close to guaranteed with Talty, which im sure factored heavily into the decision.

I didn't agree with it at the time, but it was the right call.

I just thank our lucky stars that it worked; God knows, if it didn't, and we ended up losing, the hoi polloi would be calling for CKD's head.

This is truly mind-boggling... said that during the game last night. We should be able to get two yards in two downs without passing plays.
This is drivcing me nuts! I wonder how many 3rd & 2, 3rd & 1 situations when we tried a pass play (almost always incomplete) when we were having reasonable success running the ball for short yardage.

My wish for future games: CDK takes over the play-calling in the 3rd-&-short situations!!
