Look…

They threw a flag
They met
Head official made the announcement of DPI
Beer bottles fly on the field
Stopped the game for 5 minutes
Officials met again
They reverse the call

There was no review. That was an onfield reversal, not a booth reversal
Technically, but I disagree. in effect they did review it on the field, just not in the booth. It is like a so-called hate crime, as if you can love someone to death. Unless an accident, in effect all pre-meditated murder is hate.

The officiating in the SEC has gotten out of hand. It's hard to watch the games because of it. Kentucky is the least penalized SEC team this year and they are the 45th least penalized team in the country. The bottom 30 is littered with SEC teams. This isn't because SEC teams are less disciplined, it's because the SEC officiating is horrible.

IMO nothing to see here. The SEC officiating crew just set a precedent that fans can now challenge a call or play with beer bottles. We just need to make sure we adjust our boo's to throwing things at the field and if that doesn't work just storm the field and act accordingly.

That might be the most eye-opening statistic I've seen in a while. My goodness.

I'm torn on this episode.

On the one hand you have Texas and its insufferable fan base and students. And the fact that yes, they run roughshod over 2 conferences, one of which imploded and the second was broken up and disbanded and is now some soft of Jr League. (Although to be fair, they've put together a nice product. Just a lot less richer due to the heavy hitters leaving).

On the other hand we have the absolute worst officiating in the country in the SEC. And this particular crew is the worst of the worst. Recall, this was the same crew that ruined the Alabama/Tennessee game 2 years ago.

Kirby is correct. This set a bad precedent. But, the correct call was finally made. I don't know what I'd rather see. Because this call was no worse than the PI call on Kool-Aid at the end of the Tennessee game 2 years ago. But to make it AFTER the students rained garbage down on the field?

Finally, I've seen Texas fans on X complaining that other schools, including Alabama, have thrown garbage on the field in the past with no repercussions. I can't remember when we did this, although I won't say we never did. Does anyone else?

And if Matt Loeffler was standing in front of me right now I’d call “BS” to his face that the decision to reverse that call was not influenced by the crowd reaction and the replays in the stadium.
I disagree!

I think seeing it on the big screen, the ref that threw the flag admitted that he goofed and it was the RIGHT thing to do to correct the mistake.

Whether it was an official review or not, why not take advantage of the video evidence?!?

This is how bad officiating has gotten. Not once, not twice, but at least THREE times the former official adding perspective on the broadcast disagreed with the call/non call in the game, TWO of which could have directly influenced the outcome. ONE - the illegal substitution- stated the call was wrong, officials didn’t follow proper function and Bama’s defense must be allowed to match up. TWO - the obvious hold/grab of Williams on throw to end zone that was missed. Absolutely was DPI. We settled for a FG. THREE - the unsportsmanlike penalty on Law that put us in 4th and 22. It was obvious that the UT player was in Law’s face taunting him, whin IS a penalty. It should have been offsetting at the least. 4th and 7 is more manageable than 4th and 22. Yeah, Law has to know better, but the “baiting” has to be called as well.

We deserve a lot better across college football.
Totally agree!

We need better officiating! We are the top conference in all of CFB and we have the worst officials in all of CFB...😑

who do these officials have pictures of? this particular crew has had massive errors that just get overlooked constantly.
But this was them correcting one of their errors. They got the call right. There is nothing in the rule book that prevents a crew from coming together and changing a call, even after it is announced.

Sometimes discussion on TF really make me lol. We blast refs all the time for the bad calls, no calls and made up calls. That DPI was a horrible call and, for once in our life, they did the right thing and reversed it.

We can't get mad at them for actually making the right call.

The only discussion, or argument, to be made on this is did it only happen because of the delay. Honestly, we may never know. The ref that made the call could have already been talking through their headsets about the mistake before all the bottles were thrown. Just say'n.

Plus, in the end, I thought it was hilarious because it happened to Kirby. :ROFLMAO:

Not to mention I think the announcers said they were playing the replay over and over and over again on the big board. The whole thing was a mess. Somehow made a terrible call worse by reversing it

Because the home team's jumbotron crew will show replays that were bad calls against the home team but never those of bad calls against the visitors. The crew at Auburn excels at this with, I would guess, the intent of riling up their crowd...
