looks like the tide needs to get along together

I'm more concerned about those limping off the field...especially Pep....most of those fights are between buddies and usually act like it never happened...I'm glad to see some fight in them this early, last year's team looked attitude-less....you gotta have some swagger to be aggressive and confident

I am not sure how fighting has any positives to it. If we want to win we better damn well do it as a team and not with individuals holding vendettas

Football is a violent sport, and is not for the soft or moderate spirit. I want guys on my team who play with an attitude (not an attitude problem) and yes, a little bit of swagger or cockiness. With that comes flair ups of tempers and the occasional fight. Like so many have said, "it is the nature of the beast" or "comes with the territory". There are a lot of emotions and testosterone flowing out there and you're going to have things like that happen. But at least you know they have it in them. They have that "something" that makes them better than the guy lined up across from them. They have just enough of a mean streak in them to be dangerously good on saturday's. Sure, if it begins to become a problem such as personal foul penalties and the like I can see where something needs to be done. But as long as that is not happening I see nothing wrong with letting them play as close to the edge as possible. Football is a game where truly the strongest survive and to do that you have to be aggresive, assertive and establish dominance or the same will be done to you.

"Football is first a contest of man-to-man physical strength. He who hits hardest, fastest and most often wins."-Dave Kindred

Football is a violent sport and I want players with that killer instinct and so on...but fighting does not show someone has a killer instinct....it shows they need to control there temper and start working on their own play as a team.

Being able to have more self control is something we all need in areas of our lives. But at the same time we have to realize we're dealing with 18-21 yr old's. It is not the best stage in life in which the average person makes their best decisions. The majoriy of this country doesn't have "control" of much anything. Look at the obesity rate, drug use, adultery, violence and the list could go on.

My point is lets not make a mountain out of a mole hill. The players fighting isn't the best thing in the world, but it at least shows you that they have passion for what they're doing and that is a good thing. I wouldn't worry to much about the fighting. Some of them probably need their butts whipped anyway. I know I did at that age. :biggrin2:

We need to start worrying if players didn't show a little emotion and passion while playing. I'd rather see a little "wrestling" from time to time rather than a lifeless, indifferent bunch of players.

I played football all in HS, and we never had any fights between players, maybe thats because they all knew our coach would kick their *** if they did. I'm not saying that its neccasarily bad or anything, just hoping that they listen to shula and he doesn't have to deal with it again.

We had fights, but we had this little thing called bull in the ring for the two transgressors and it usually helped them think before fighting in the future. There's always the next play, beat him then and get the shot in then, and leave it alone. It helped the underclassmen see the intensity at the HS level, and we always left it on the field.
