It'll be an afternoon kickoff in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Nov. 9 when LSU and Alabama meet on CBS at 2:30 p.m. CT, the network announced on Monday. The Tigers and Crimson Tide are undefeated and on a collision course for a matchup between the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the country, according to the AP Top 25 Poll.

It'll be the first time the game will not be at night since 2010 when Les Miles still roamed the sidelines for the Tigers, leading the program to a 24-21 win over Alabama in Tiger Stadium. CBS designated Georgia-Notre Dame as its night game earlier this season, meaning the company would have had to purchase the night slot away from ESPN to have the game moved to an evening kick in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

At least the afternoon game will give everybody a chance to unwind a little before bed time. Late games against tough opponents always leave me stressed out a bit making sleep difficult.

Me too. Whether we win or lose in a late game, it takes me about an hour or more to wind down because I am reading articles, reviews, worried about an injury, etc. I personally like the noon or 3;30 games because it's easier on me with my anxiety, etc.

Good. We won't have to put up with all the silly shenanigans with the lights.

YES! I know a nighttime game against LSU would have been neat with the new lights, but I like this slot better too.

I know we usually get one game a year at the 8:00 slot. Normally, it's not a great game but Sat. night was way too dramatic and consequential to be able to go to sleep immediately afterward. The first half of the game, with all the penalties, took 2 hours to play...2 hours of a 3 hour slot!

LSU has a bye the week before the Bama game, so the Tigers should be rested and at full strength when they play the Tide (they'll beat Auburn like a drum the week before). If Tua is back and close to full strength, I fully expect the Tide to beat an LSU team whose defense is on par with Texas'.

I'm certainly hoping for a Bama win, which should push my Sooners ahead of LSU for a possible playoff spot. If LSU beats Bama, both of those SEC teams will remain in the Top 4 and Oklahoma will stay at No. 5 and on the outside looking in. There's no way Ohio State loses to Wisconsin next week.

I have a friend who says that given how many 2:30 kicks we have we should "brand" something like "It's 2:30 in Tuscaloosa!!" the way LSU has appropriated playing at night.

I'm shocked so many fans on this board are cool with this. This is the premium of games at 2:30? This is the biggest of all games and it's not in prime time. SMH.

It isn't hot anymore, and Alabama doesn't need a prime time game to boost the program's visibility or recruiting. Not sure why this kickoff time in November would bother Alabama fans. :conf3:

If you are a college football fan and an SEC football fan in particular it does not matter what time the game is played. #1 vs #2 will draw viewers. I prefer this time slot.

I love how all the fans become TV Executives, and start becoming concerned about the lost revenue for CBS. I’m sure people are going to find a way to a TV screen at 2:30, and Aflac is still going to buy their ad slots. I promise y’all, CBS isn’t hurting. 2:30 is a great time slot.

For a huge game like this...I love the afternoon slot because it allows me the time to decompress before bedtime. A late game that is close and dramatic, no matter the results, keeps me from going to sleep.

When it isn't September, the 2:30 time slot works out pretty great for those of us travelling from 2.5+ hours away.

If we don't want to spend the entire day in Tuscaloosa, we can at least somewhat comfortably drive in and back home on Saturday. And, if we do want to spend the entire day in Tuscaloosa, we can pretty much get a hotel room anywhere in Birmingham and not feel rushed either in the morning or the evening.
