He may be headed for a journey man career.

There's worse things in life than getting paid a few million a year to be ready in case the starter gets hurt.
Dobbs is this way and it is working out for him. Maybe it will for Mac too. He is smart like Dobbs so there may be a market for him.

Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
There's lots of reports that Mac is not very receptive to coaching, and that's being generous. He needs to swallow his pride and accept what the coaches are telling him about his game. I'm rooting for him. He was the best QB in college football in 2020.
He has a smart-elic mouth to go on top of that is what I keep reading.

Mac reminds me of Kirk Cousins, given the right system, protection, and receivers he is a scoring machine, accurate, quick reads, quick release. Same with Cousins, but Cousins was underwhelming at Washington with an iffy cast. he flourished with the Vikings.

Cousins to this point has proven to be much better than Mac

Cousins level is Mac’s potential ceiling. He could also sink to backup status from here on. He’s obviously not a supreme physical talent…so much depends on being in the right place and his having the right attitude.

He is not good enough to be a starter in the NFL. Your eyes don't lie. He excelled at Bama because he had Devonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle running wide open constantly, had an amazing running back in Najee Harris and one of the best o-lines in Bama history.

I do not follow or watch then NFL, but the above post says it all. Mac was a good QB on a great team just that simple. Maybe he will catch on with another team.

He definitely benefited from an amazing surrounding cast, but his decision making, touch, placement, and anticipation (throwing receivers open) were as good as any I've seen at Alabama (or in college for that matter) and those have nothing to do with the surrounding cast...

If I were Mac, I'd want out of NE as well...............he needs a better supporting cast, as does Bryce
Man, Carolina is just a tough place to go. So many decent QB's went there and just died on the vine. Now, I know....."but Cam Newton!!"

Carolina had talent all over the field, and Cam was talented. Faded really quickly, but still was quite the athlete. Bought and paid for when someone needed to catch up to their cross-state rival.....

Plus Metchie and a stable of backs.
I think he’s plenty good enough. His timing was phenomenal in 2020. I just think he’s in his head. But I believe he’s totally worthy of being a starter.

I like Mac. The environment he's stuck in right now is literally where the Dolphins were at before they hired McDaniel to take over the program... a disaster of dysfunction. BB has kind of let his organizational/leadership skills slip to the wayside and his current "Coaching Tree" has more failures on it than successes in the NFL at least. Maybe Kraft will make a change or Mac will get traded to a better environment.
