Mac is probably done at New England (Pats-Colts aftermath)

It never was. It’s a systemic problem with the team/coaching. Glad for Mac to get out of there.
Facebook algorithm put a lot of “for me” posts from Patriots forums so I saw a lot of “Zappe is way better than Mac” posts. Today he hit one pass for 33 yards, I think the other 11 are for 55 yards.

Belichick is hopefully done too. He hung on to Brady's coat-tails for Championships and was the biggest NFL cheater there ever was.

He also cut Bernie Kosar.

JMHO

The one thing Brady did that was unusual is take a lot of team friendly contracts. Heck his wife earned more than he did. When he would take league minimum contracts it allowed money to be spread around. Now that he is gone those team feiendly contracts are to.
Tom Brady never took a league minimum contract, he gave home town discounts so they could build a team around him, but he was always in the mid upper pay tier. He didn’t have to have the biggest contracts because of Giselle, and also because his TB12 and ad contracts made him a lot of off the field money. It is estimated he gave up about $60 million plus in football contracts to help the teams he played for. He played the long game, he signed a 10 year $375 million starting in 2024 with FOX , so I think converting all those rings into post playing money paid off.

As to Mac, with the right situation I can see him doing pretty well. If not, I can see him hanging around holding a clipboard for 8-10 years. . He made the Pro Bowl and has playoff starting experience , those are qualities teams want in a backup. Poor Mac, backups with starting experience only make $5-8 million/year. I just can’t see him making ends meet .

92.9 the game had some NFL "expert" on today that actually said Mac Jones just isn't good and Matt Patricia should have been a great OC, but Mac made him look bad. His further proof was BoB being bad too and blamed Mac for that. He also said Belichick will most likely be the Failcons next coach and will "fix" them.

I hope he 'fixes' them good.

Mac was part of the problem, but that was due to him regressing to 2019 mac. They ruined him. Hopefully he finds a team that can rebuild his confidence as a backup

needs to be traded. has one year left and then the 5th year option which h I guarantee will not be picked up if he is still there

It really depends on if Kraft and Mayo think he is a better option forward. New England needs far more than a quarterback in this long rebuild so it’s hard to imagine that they would take another one.

Mac has proven to be a competent passer in the NFL...if you give him the time to throw and like any other QB....players to throw too...he made the pro bowl in 2021 for goodness sake...I think he will be fine. Some question his temperament but i question that....how do you want a highly competitive person to react to being sacked so frequently and being limited by terrible OC play calling with a weak roster? I wish him well and hope he finds a better situation..in NE or elsewhere

Mac just isn’t good , but good enough though to make the pro bowl and make the playoffs as a rookie with Josh McDaniels as his OC.

If I am Mac Jones, I consider coming back to Tuscaloosa and working out at Bama, leading some passing skels with the QBs just get myself back in a positive environment with some structure while I explore my future opportunities. I think it would do wonders for resetting his self confidence and bring a mentor to our team.

I agree. If you look at his season as the starter at Alabama, he was in my opinion the best of the bunch of recent QBs.

Mac in 2020 was a better QB than Tua, Bryce, Milroe or Hurts were at Alabama.

Mac may not be done with New England. Belichick's firing may have been due to how he handled Mac. This board has thoroughly analyzed the crazy coordinators Bill hired.

Key Quote: "However, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels was hired away by the Las Vegas Raiders, and Belichick replaced him with longtime defensive assistant Matt Patricia. The decision was almost universally criticized at the time and would turn out to be a huge miscalculation. "
