Mac is probably done at New England (Pats-Colts aftermath)

I want to know more details on this? How can you be a dirty player at QB? Maybe sliding with cleats up. Im not sure I buy all this talk because i havent seen evidence of it on the field.
I’ve seen him kick someone in a pile and slide cleats up like Ty Cobb at a defenders family jewels.

It’s only been a couple times.

Idk if he’s a dirty player, but what I saw was unnecessary and not sportsman like.

Look around the league at all the retreads who are still playing.

Even if Mac plays somewhere next year as the #2, he's still got a good chance to land a starting role in the next few years.
Mac could get another chance at starting or he could be another journeyman in the mold of a McCown or Hoyer who plays for half the teams in the league over 40 years and banks tens of millions in the process.

I would be shocked if he flamed out of the league completely.

Either way he has already made over $15MM. He will be fine.

Not just Mac, but I have been pretty disgusted for some time with how much talent the NFL wastes every year continually. There are literally enough x-Bama NFL players sitting at home that you could field a competent NFL team. They are spoiled into just moving onto the next crop of draftees.

So it is your theory that former Alabama players are sitting at home even though they are better than current NFL players? And NFL teams are just playing inferior players because they are spoiled?

No Im saying there are guys every year who fall the cracks of the incompetent management of the various franchises that can legitimately play. The franchises play the players they have the most money invested in and not always the best players.

There are those franchises who have traditions of poor rosters, poor draft execution, etc. Do I think you could find some off roster 4-6 year guys to help bolster a depleted roster lower-tier NFL team, yes.

Mac Jones is one of the 32 best QBs in the NFL but he may not find the right job opening with the right franchise. I would argue that AJ would have been every bit as good as Tannehill on the Titans with Derrick Henry as it's primary offensive weapon. There is nothing special about Ryan Tannehill, Andy Dalton, Ryan Fitzpatrick, etc. For good sakes, Tyrod Taylor is still getting live snaps in the NFL. There are certain players still in the league thst defy logic...

That is bad luck as he landed on a team that can't get out of its own way. What happens after he becomes a free agent - TBD

A system that puts heavier burden on the athlete to take personal responsibility of preparation and performance can also yield good results for teams and organizations. At pro level, you can play or not play, not really owed anything normally, it.is to be earned. But they have UFL now.too, like to see development leagues for guys that don't make the cut, but keep working for opportunities

I take issue with that as being an oversimplification. Once his OC departed for LV, and Belichick traded away or released any receiver who could fog a mirror - plus an OL which had him running for his life, I think his chances evaporated. For a QB, the luck of the draw matters a lot...

I wasn't talking about Mac, was referring to the idea that there are pro players everywhere not playing and nfl looking at new players each season...my point was that is typically a best of the best of the best situation. Agree Mac has been in horrible coaching situation, and terrible when he sought to make his situation better that he wasn't applauded by that org for doing so. Hoping he finds a good fit next season. Also agree luck of draw matters, so much has to be align to be successful. Bryce another example of that, he has very little talent around him right now

That may be true as a general rule, but there are a lot of guys who kick around on practice squads for several years until they find the right fit...

And as others have pointed out, Mac has some self-inflicted reputational damage to overcome.

I hope he gets a chance to do that.

But between on-field performances, developing a rep as a solitary teammate (especially not good for a QB), and some cheap shots memorialized on tape, he’s definitely damaged goods.

I give Brady his full due, he filled gaps of talent with his greatness. However, I'm not sure dynasties are won with one great player and the rest are below average.
The one thing Brady did that was unusual is take a lot of team friendly contracts. Heck his wife earned more than he did. When he would take league minimum contracts it allowed money to be spread around. Now that he is gone those team feiendly contracts are to.

Yeah, he had a rare situation where his wife (a super model) was the bread winner of the family, with her earnings being significantly more than his. So, he could treat his money as pocket change.
