No worries, I just hate how stats like that are bandied about, as if what's happening on average to the 3rd largest populace living in the 3rd largest country on the planet somehow impacts / explains / even correlates to local trends.
If having an armed populace was a deterrent to violent crime then shouldn't this country be the safest place on the planet? There are more guns than people in this country. Maybe part of the crime problem is the guns, or the ease of access to those guns.

Allowing the free movement of nearly any person armed with a deadly weapon that can be used in a second or less for any reason is recipe for disaster (laws don't stop illegal gun use, they just allow the punishment a small fraction of those caught using them illegally).

No matter how you read the 2nd Amendment, it does not say "every person can have a handgun, everywhere, all the time". The 2nd Amendment does interestingly start with the phrase, "A well regulated militia...", which should mean to any non-profiteering gun society that we need a well regulated system for arms. But, apparently not enough folks in the legistlative or judicial system can read the Constitution anymore.

Until we get enough people to vote out the well funded (bribed) politicians that refuse to seriously and honestly address our gun problems at a national level, we're gonna be stuck seeing mass shooting after mass shooting.

I sincerely think the only real way we START to get real improvement here in the US is to get large money donations out of politics. Dark money from those who make money from distorting our politics is an evil we are reckoning with.
Neither side of the aisle wants that, so it will literally never happen. 🫤

There was a similar bill before the midterms that passed the House and failed the Senate.
Funny how these bills always come up for vote when they know it won't pass.

IMO, the R's are benefiting a whole lot more from dark money than the R's.
Possibly. probably, even. But if you think anyone congress is clean I've got lots of things to sell you.

You are a cynical dude, man. Life can be easier.

IIRC, the bill would have passed if not for Manchin and Sinema.

No lies detected.

Hahaha, I don't think this is correct, my life is a cake walk.

I just have no love for the clowns in DC. That said, I don't think much about it, as clowns aren't my thing and the federal government doesn't have a huge impact on my quality of life.

I just despise crooked, power-hungry people, of which there are many in DC.

Seems to be a common refrain over the last few years.

If they can get it passed, I'll absolutely concede there might be some in DC that deserve to be there.
