Bama Game Thread: MBB Bama vs Gonzaga - Monday 11/24 - 8:30 CST on TN

Just my opinion only, but definitely Bowen.

Also, I don't think we can leave Mallette and Sherell off that "core group" list.

I think all of them need a larger portion of "step up" in their daily routine. :)
.
I should have clarified by core I meant guys that can just dog it out and make impacts every game. Bowen’s effort is a little too up and down at the moment but think he can get there.

Mallette, Sherrell don’t have that in them. But good role players although Sherrell is just still too much a tweener/awkward like good at a few but great at nothing. He is better this year so he is improving.

We are getting killed on the boards. Our 5's have to be more focused. Hate to say it but IMO, CNO missed on Williamson.
I agree he was a definite miss. Can’t play at this level. And it’s like out staff has a disconnect with recruiting bigs. Pretty sure with the way Murphy posted about him, they thought Cliff was going to be the stuff last year. But he was too soft as well and didn’t have that dawg in him consistently. We had an assistant years ago who specialized in big men. Think he was with Gottfried. He was an older guy. Maybe we need someone like that again.

Yes, he's playing scared.

I keep seeing people (not here, but mostly on X/Twitter) about our lack of "thug ball" players -- but that's not our style either. Plus Purdue, Gonzaga, St Johns, Illinois, Arizona -- those are teams that have those types of players. And we are 2-2 -- and in it until the last few minutes against both Purdue and Gonzaga. I think we will be fine -- we need to be who we are...

I don't want to play Goon ball. Ours is much more fun

Raise your hand if you heard the part of the broadcast where they said that in the timeframe since CNO has been at Bama, we have more wins than anyone in the SEC. I think they also said the 8th most wins nationally.

Disappointing loss. They gotta toughen up. Hard preseason schedule though. Hopefully it'll pay off down the road. Rtr.
I’m not sure why it was disappointing. Played hard. They were in it until about 2 to 3 minutes left in the game. The experience were getting is insane.

Watched the highlights today.

Have to agree. You guys played very hard against a very tough opponent and were still in the game very late, including some nice 3's that swooshed in.

Seems like the competition this season is going to be crazy!

Disappointing only because this program is working to make the jump to elite status. A win either over Purdue or Gonzaga firmly puts us in that conversation.

Even though we didn't shoot the ball well against the Zags, we did enough things to look like an elite team in the first half. Like Cajun said, the experience they are getting is insane.

The formula is there ... if they can keep putting it together:
Take the three, if its not falling, attack the basket and utilize cut passes from the high post. Play high intensity D and make sure to block out lol

This is a legit elite 8 team, if they do the above, they can be a final 4 team.
