McElroy's Leg Injury

We wouldn't miss a beat with AJ under center.

 Just like we wouldn't miss a beat when Rolando left, right? I heard all spring and summer about how we wouldn't miss a beat with Hightower in there, he's going to pick up where Ro left off, he might even be better, etc...

We have excellent backups, but don't kid yourself. There is a reason the backups are the backups. CNS will always play the best player so Greg is starting for a reason. Even if it's for the intangibles, the starters are starters for a reason.

Of course he can't do what McElroy does for us but McElwain can handle it well.
If he can't do what Greg does, how can you say we won't miss a beat? He's a young QB that hasn't been in true SEC action to this point. The chances of him making a mistake are higher than those of Greg making a mistake.

Dallas, you said what I was thinking. I just didn't want to change the subject of the thread. There's a reason AJ is second.

That's why we call the right plays. A few runs, deep ball to Maze, AJ becomes a hero.

I miss Rolando :(. His productivity remains unmatched.

What makes you think that? We have no reason to believe that he will be just as good as Greg. Yes, he's been in the system for two years and he has a cannon for an arm, but that doesn't mean he can manage a game while making smart decisions like Greg.

How about the comments from the other players? What about his play in the scrimmages, or even games? I believe he's the real deal. No saying Greg isn't, but AJ is just as good in my opinion.

Back to what Dallas said. We heard all the same about Donta taking over for Ro. I'm not saying he can't be great. I'm just saying we don't need to give him plenty of credit that he hasn't deserved to this point.

Anyone who thought we wouldn't miss Rolando or thought Dont'a could do what he did is a noob. This quarterback situation is very different, my friend.

I saw plenty of people on here talking about how Dont'a would be fine. And how is this QB situation different? Because AJ was highly recruited?

No because it's heavily dependent on play calling. Dont'a obviously has different LB instinct than Ro.

We have no Idea how AJ would because we do not see him practice and see how he does. Saying we would not miss a step would be to far. He has talent but that's not the whole part.

Back to the topic at hand, Greg's injury?

Wow, I was just checking in and immediately noticed how this topic has grown legs. Surely at this point of the week we would have heard something if Greg wasn't going to play. I don't live in B'ham or listen to JOX, but none of the national guys have been privy to any of this info that supposedly JOX has.

Is this really a concern? I know that if his ankle or leg got hit during the game all bets are off, but to even wonder if he will play. Hmmm, just don't know how much worry I should put into this one.

BTW, I'd love to see AJ tomorrow night....just not til really late.

We didn't hear anything about Greg's rib injury until AFTER the NC game, even though there was over a month between the SECCG and the NC game. I'm not in any way implying that Greg won't play, but just because we haven't heard about it doesn't mean that he for sure is playing. At this point I would have to ASSUME he is starting, but only the coaches know for sure.

Our policy on injury news is to give as little info as possible. Loose lips sink ships and all...
