Sharrief was recruited by Alabama defensive backs coach Chris Ball, who also helped the Tide snare Fort Payne's Marcus Carter last year after the safety had been an early commitment to Auburn.
A versatile skill athlete, Sharrief also has the ability to play defensive back on the college level.
Ball is on the verge of having another of his recruits commit to the Crimson Tide. R.A. Hubbard standout Michael Ricks, whose team lost to Demopolis in the Class 1A state championship game on Friday, said he intended to publicly commit to Alabama on Monday.
Ricks is a 6-2, 185-pounder who played running back and defensive back for the Courtland school. Several recruiting services have reported Ricks was bound to announce for Alabama as soon as his season ended.
