I for one have to say that I am pleasantly surprised how the OL has performed overall to this point, especially considering how we thought they might perform before the start of the season. Although I've seen improvement since the start of the season, the major area of concern for me is that on running plays the D seems to pour through our OL untouched, usually there to make the tackle just as soon as our RB receives the handoff. I've seen this occur in about every game this year. I do think that running up the middle so much doesn't help, but when the D is there to make the tackle just as soon as the RB gets the ball, it doesn't matter if the play is up the middle, to the outside, or anything else. From reading other discussions on the board it sounds like we are already using players to help other players (double teaming). So that sounds like our options are fairly thin. I'm sure in time experience would help remedy that and allow us to have more options. Although, experience didn't seem to help Closner yesterday from what I saw and from reading some of the other posts on here. I know some of this was expected at the start of the season and we have made improvement for an OL so young. However, somehow we've got to find a way to overcome this problem area before it really bites us in the rear. I just hope it doesn't Saturday when UThug comes to town. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, especially from any of the mods.
