DuBose won an SEC title for crying out loud.
He took things as tremendous opportunities, but also very challenging.
DeBoerBose ain't winning an SEC title. His personality just doesn't fit Bama. There's no fire and passion.
Not in
any way defending DeBoer here.
But Dubious won his SEC championship:
- with a train wreck conference (MSU had the best overall record and nobody else with <3 losses)
- thanks largely to a fluke muffed punt
- at the same time he LOST to...Louisiana Tech
- largely due to two players he inherited, Shaun Alexander and Chris Samuels
None of the previous head coaches walked in replacing a legend and then watched a huge chunk of the roster leave the program because it wasn't that long ago you had to sit out a year if you transferred.
Losing, in and of itself, of course isn't
the real problem. It's the fact the team looks like the 2000 paper tiger. And for those whose memory of the UCLA game that year starts and stops with the Freddie Milons touchdown, don't forget: Alabama actually led that game, 24-21, halfway through the third quarter. Even that didn't happen today.
