It doesn’t matter what he did vs Saban because they are different eras and Saban also had better NFL coaching experience so it’s not comparable. It’s not one game. He’s what 4-5 record the last 9 FBS games and got out coached in those with a team playing poorly. One of those games lost was to a horrible OU team that had basically walk ons starting and the playoffs on the line. He did not make an o line coach change or DC or DL. That’s concerning alone. It’sa bad trend at best. I’m not saying he’s a bust yet but I’m not going to argue for him. Hoping that next week shows improvements. Wisconsin probably will tell a lot.
I don't want to argue, but a healthy discussion is what the forum is all about right? ;)

So, with that being said, I'll just throw out two more things to give a little insight on my thought process, if you care to know . . .

1. I don't believe in the different era argument when you are comparing stages of coaching careers and looking at success. I completely agree that they are from different "eras", but each era had its own challenges.
2. I'm hesitant to judge any coach after their first season.

I don't know who he resembles or if he even resembles any of our past failures but one thing is for sure, he can not continue to set futility records and remain head coach at Alabama. He's already set too many dubious records but considering what he followed he gets a pass on a few. Unfortunately it seems like every week he's setting another and they're stacking up at an alarming rate.

I disagree. You’re telling me that losses now to Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Michigan, and now FSU is because we don’t have the best players?

That’s laughable at best.
No, we clearly lost those games due to inferior coaching. A trend that I expect to continue under this regime. My point was more ominous. We are in steady decline and will continue on that path due to the money it takes to buy the best players in today's game.

We had better talent than the teams that beat us. Every. Single. One.
We clearly had an inferior coaching effort in those games. In fact, this coach may not be up to the task. My point was more general as to the decline that we are all going to see coming in the near term. We are going to see a lot of bandwagoners fall by the wayside coming up soon because we are on the downside of the parabola. This has turned into a money game right before our eyes and ain't no coach or staff going to make a difference.

I understand the Sentiment, at the same time the players we have, as well as current recruiting rankings still show we can and are available to bring in top notch talent.

They can’t all go to Ohio St and Texas.

I mean I know Kiffin gets hated on here but if he can win at Ole Miss, with the right coach there’s no reason to think we can’t

By the way, Kiffin was my choice but I know that will never happen mainly because of Saban’s input.

In my opinion, this was a rushed hire to “keep the team together”….all for what?? A 9-4 season, and an unacceptable opening loss to Florida St. to start the next season?

I know it’s early, but there are so many red flags that DeBoer is not the right man

Ball is clearly in his court to prove us wrong. But you are right, does not seem to be coach for this program at this time.
