IN ADDITION to the Tide’s fairly lengthy list of injuries, Shula said Wednesday that there could be some other absences from the Crimson Tide’s bowl travel roster, although he was not specific about any individuals who might be left behind when the Tide travels to Nashville this weekend.
“There might be a couple (who will not make the trip), but I am not going to make any announcement," Shula said.
The Tide head coach would not respond to speculation about possible academic issues that might keep some players at home. Southeastern Conference rules require that players pass at least six hours in the fall semester to be eligible for post-season play.
“I’m not saying it’s grades," Shula said. “There are certain things that we require for (players) who are making the bowl trip. If they don’t do those things, they won’t be making the trip."
