Coach Shula hinted in this mornings paper that a couple of guys wouldn't be making the trip due to grades. Any Idea who they are? I hate to see guys miss out on a bowl game because they forgot to be students.

I read somewhere yesterday that it is only a couple of players and none that are on the two-deep depth chart.

That is good to know, even though I wish the guys would get it done in the classroom no matter their spot on the depth chart.

Most of us have slipped up in class..... My freshman year first semester was rough.

not enough to be ineligible to play college football, i think a baboon could do that, especially with some of the majors players have these days.

True..... but I went to a elite Private college up north. The Average ACT was 31. So.... all our sports teams sucked.

Honestly guys.... these kids work harder than MOST of us did in college. They are full time employees of the school who are scrutinized on all forms of media.... time to time you slip.

There could be reasons other than grades, like breaking team rules.

IN ADDITION to the Tide’s fairly lengthy list of injuries, Shula said Wednesday that there could be some other absences from the Crimson Tide’s bowl travel roster, although he was not specific about any individuals who might be left behind when the Tide travels to Nashville this weekend.

“There might be a couple (who will not make the trip), but I am not going to make any announcement," Shula said.

The Tide head coach would not respond to speculation about possible academic issues that might keep some players at home. Southeastern Conference rules require that players pass at least six hours in the fall semester to be eligible for post-season play.

“I’m not saying it’s grades," Shula said. “There are certain things that we require for (players) who are making the bowl trip. If they don’t do those things, they won’t be making the trip."
