They can dramatically shorten the season with this many teams in the playoffs. The idea behind such a long season was to ensure that the best teams made the playoffs. Since that no longer matters, the season can be reduced by 30-50 games.
You think they care about best teams? :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:

All those points in an SEC game.
All these goose eggs in an MLB game.

On the anniversary of the Kirk Gibson homer

My crappy mood got worse after reading this.

No Snit, Dansby is not consistant. And no Snit, winning the division is not the "goal". The goal should always be world series, always and forever. Winning a division is meaningless, especially now with the expanded playoff.
I agree that this team has a lot to be proud of, but the goal should no longer be to win the division. Someone in the press needs to correct him loudly.

In the expanded playoff era - one goal - 🏆.

This season produced four 100+ win teams and a team with 99 wins. Three of the four 100+ win teams are already out, and the Yankees are on the brink. The regular season no longer matters.

Cheaters.
Yeah, but as time goes by we're finding out that's more universal than we want to admit, too. The Cardinals (hacking - wait for it - the Astros) and Red Sox (basically doing the same thing Houston did) were using sophisticated cheating mechanisms, too - and those are the ones we know about.

What do we not know about?

As a reminder - at the exact same time as the Pete Rose investigation in 1989, MLB put two UMPIRES on probation for (wait for it)...consorting with bookies and hid it until 2002 ( Report: Gambling Touched Baseball Umps - CBS News ). Guess they figured finding out UMPIRES were into gamblers (as opposed to a manager) would have destroyed the game, so they just did it all in secret.

Yeah, we can get on Houston's case, but they've still put a good team on the field.
They aren't the only ones playing fast and loose with the rules.

And I'm not even a Houston fan.

Facts, all true, but Houston crossed a line with me.

and speaking of the dodgers didn't one of their writers say that they can go ahead and make championship plans and engrave the trophy before even one pitch was thrown?
I popped Plaschke on a Tweet this morning, pointing out it's almost like the Dodgers are choke artists with a trophy only with an asterisk because of the pandemic. I doubt he'll respond but ha ha.
