While Neal McCready, sports writer, Mobile Press stated and I quote"
Alabama isn't a whole lot better than Auburn, if at all, but the Tide is finding ways to win." The editor of the sports section is giving us credit for winning even when everything doesn't go perfectly. I also laughed a little when the company line out of Tenn is that "we beat ourselves" oh really was it one of you who kicked that field goal?
I was privledged to be there to witness this hard fought game. I will never forget it. The looks on the faces of those players after the game will stay with me a lifetime. I will remember the thousands of red and white shakers pleading in unison for even one yard. The UT player helping Brodie off the ground, giving him a pat on the backside and Brode responding with a slap to his helmet. I will not be able to speak for a few days because after all these years the crowd has become the 12th man at BDS and the players know it and need it and ask for it on every down. Tears, handshakes, smiles and the fragrant odor of cigars being lit on every level of BDS. The weather was overcast, but the sun came out and when we looked up the score was 6-3 and Rammer Jammer rang the rafters. The Roll Tides, Rammer Jammers and the We're 7&0 cheers flowed into the street outside the stadium. Everywhere people hugged strangers, cops smiled as they directed traffic. Vendors couldn't keep the game day shirts on the tables and discarded Orange and White shakers fell into the street. But best of all and probably most special --   nowhere and I do mean nowhere could you hear the dreaded sound of Rocky Top. RTR
