Bill Walton!! Right now he is doing a game on ESPN2. He thinks everyone wants to hear him reminisce about his whole life. Thankfully he does West coast basketball... not SEC.

I used to love this stuff - watched it every day, all year long. I really don't anymore - even leading up to a big game. I watched none of the pre-game or post-game stuff yesterday. Was watching Netflix until just before kick-off. I know who I don't like, but it is mostly based on what I have seen in the past. But I agree that Rece has changed, and not for the better. He has his career to think about, but it seems that he forgot where it all started for him.
I'm the same way. In the past, I couldn't get enough pre-game and post-game coverage. I would watch the highlights so many times that I had them memorized. Over the last few years, I have begun to become irritated watching this stuff, and so I don't anymore. I was watching a documentary before the NC game and only turned the game on about five minutes before kickoff. ESPN has just become terrible.

Greg McElroy and Rece Davis. I get being non-biased in their roles but they never ever defend or stand up for Bama in any way that I've heard. Compare them to the LSU guys someone referenced above and it is night and day. It wouldn't hurt to occasionally let everyone know where you're from and that you're proud of it. And McElroy has a certain smugness to him that I do not enjoy. On the flip side, I have heard Barrett Jones on a few radio telecasts and I think he does a great job as a color analyst!
I don`t think there`s too much Barrett Jones wouldn`t be good at if he put his mind to it.

I like both Greg and Rece, but I do get tired of both of them going out of their way to be unbiased. Even before this year, both Marcus Spears and Booger McFarland were some of LSU's biggest fans and they didn't apologize for it. As a sports fan myself, being a fan of your school is totally acceptable to me. I want them to be balanced but I am fine with them being real. I feel like sometimes, Greg and Rece are not real and go overboard to not cheer for the Tide.

Starting this football season, I quit watching sports TV, except for the actual broadcast of live games. I also quit listening to sports talk radio at all.

After the first week of withdrawal pains, it is glorious. No blowhards on TV, no idiots on the radio (applies to hosts as well as callers).

I get all the sports news I need on TideFans, and get it in a civilized manner.

I quit watching a few years ago.
All of the fun and actual entertainment has been sucked out of the talk shows and pre/post game shows and replaced always with some kind of political slant/agenda.
For the love of all that was fun and great about these shows please drop the politics and just show sports stuff and have a little knowledge on the subject you're speaking about.
If you want to do stuff on politics, fine. Just start up ESPN News 2 and make it completely about all the political mess you want to spout.
As far as the ESPN guys, as someone on here has already alluded to, it's scripted. You can't honestly believe that GMac and Reece simply don't want to cheer for Bama and such but they have mouths to feed and mortgages just like the rest of us and as long as they can't make the same/more money from someone else they will do the job they are told to do.

the shock jock types are the ones i dont listen to as well as the cheerleader type. Some prefer that. I like the guys who give unbiased opinions whether i think they are right or wrong. Thats the main reason i dont mind Stephen A Smith. Whether you agree with him or his delivery, what he says is what he truly believes and he will go against the grain. Kirk is pretty good at it as well. The rest of those guys are pure entertainment.

Gary Danielson is my least favorite. But when he isn’t calling people the wrong names or fawning over whoever he thinks will beat Bama, he does generally know what he’s talking about
