Re: Multiple sources: Urban Meyer will step down again

He must really be burned out...but I applaud him for coming back this past year. Wants to be there for his kids 24/7....cant knock a man for that. The turnover rate for the coaches of the Big 3 in Fla is crazy the past 2 years. 1st Bowden....then Shannon and now Meyer. Lotta good jobs available in CFB right now.

So if Mullen goes back to FL any chance Malzhan goes to State since they have spent 2 years in the spread now?

2 SEC Titles. 2 National Titles. 2 resignations. Urban Meyer is at least consistent.

Re: Urban Meyer to Step Down - AGAIN?

This is getting crazier by the second! Unlike last year, Urban will NOT be taking back his resignation, and even if he does, they probably will say "nope, too late". Some of the names I'm hearing. Jim McElwain, Gus Malzahn, Jeff Fisher, Mike Shanahan, Steve Spurrier, I've even heard Skip Holtz! really now? Skip Holtz? Why? I could believe Spurrier coming back before I could believe Skip Holtz!

Throw in the names of Kevin Sumlin...Harbaugh....Peterson

Just when I think nothing could get my attention.

I wonder if Stoops gets annoyed that his name comes up at every major opening. Remember he was a shoe-in for the Florida job last time Meyer stepped down. Was a slam dunk for the job after Zook got Croomed. Was a guarantee for the ND job after Weiss got fired...

Why be annoyed? It just makes contract negotiations a little easier. ;)

Re: Multiple sources: Urban Meyer will step down again

I'd lean toward the latter...as has been stated, he hasn't seemed all there this year. Like he was just going through the motions. The man's got nothing to be ashamed of. Despite whatever feelings we may have about his personal characters, I will say that even in his relatively short stint at Florida, the man has done more in terms of winning than some coaching lifers have done. It's seriously not worth his deteriorating your health or your family structure if that is indeed the issue as it was alluded to last time.

So...is the 7-5 season the cause or the effect?

This is what I was getting at

Doubtful. He has turned that job down twice already. As long as he's winning conference titles he's set for life in Norman.

What about Brian Kelly? I know he has only spent a year at ND and it is his dream job, but I don't think he had the season he hoped for. ND has lost some of its luster in recent years.

Re: Multiple sources: Urban Meyer will step down again

My bet would be the obvious= Mullen, then an OFFER to Stoops. I'll also throw Gruden out there- may be he turned Miami down knowing this was coming, think about it same best recruiting base with everything Miami lacks in the way of facilities and what not. Why go discuss the job with Miami if there wasn't an interest in getting back in to coaching, maybe to signal you want back in???

I have wondered the same thing about Gruden as well. He may have turned down Miami but Florida is one of the premiere programs in the nation right now. I wouldn't doubt it if his name gets thrown around. Not sure i'm buying the whole deal with Cam Newton somehow being involved in this decision. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised his name is being thrown around. He seems to be in all of the major stories/scandals this year.

I agree that Mullen will get a serious look from the Florida AD, and agree that Trey Burton will be a great spread option QB under Mullen's coaching.

GCT, you are so right - Miami AD is hating life right now.
