I noticed the Music City Bowl Dir., Joe Kelley, is a Bama grad- did he play ball at Bama- what are his ties with the University?
-I am sure he was more than pleased Bama fell into the Nashville Bowl. :biga2:

As stated, he was a former Crimson Tide football and baseball player. He also is or was a member of the National Advisory Board for UA. He's from Ozark and graduated from UA in 1970. An Alabama man that's done well for himself, president of the American General Career Distribution Group, a subsidiary of the American General Financial Group, leading more than 6,500 employees in 28 states. Joe Kelley receive the Paul W. Bryant Alumni-Athlete Award in 2000 and was quoted saying:

"Hardly a day goes by when I don't think of the strength and character of Coach Bryant. "His principles of surrounding yourself with dedicated individuals, recognizing winners and planning effectively are appropriate guidelines for anyone wanting to lead a company."

He's in good company with the award, with past winners being the likes of John Croyle, Charlie Boswell, Fred Sington, Bart Starr, Ozzie Newsome and Jerry Duncan.

Now to see if anyone is paying attention, Wendell Hudson also received the award in 2000, first time 2 awards have been given in one year. There is a bit of trivia with Mr Hudson and his arrival to the Capstone. Anyone care to guess?
