My 2010 SEC predictions

Forget tOSU. they lose at Wisconsin and at Iowa. Iowa plays all 3(tOSu, PSU, and Wisconsin) of their little eleven top competition at home and wins all 3.

I have yet to really look at the other conferences to see how it will shake out, regarding schedules and who's coming back, etc. I'm leaning towards Ohio State because they seem to be, at the moment, the media favorite to make a run.

Iowa should have run the table last year, and couldn't cut. The way Ohio State has owned the big 11 for basically the last decade, it'll take a lot to make me think otherwise this year.

Neither the media nor the bookies have a clue at this time of year. Is the reason my brother spends the first two weeks of every season in Las Vegas.

Didn't know LSU needed an excuse based off what I posted. I didn't pick LSU to win anything. I just stated that, as always, USCe will fall below the expectations people have for them preseason. You agreed, yet still feel the need to take a stab? Not getting it. I wasn't downing your team, and wasn't even praising my own.

More proof us LSU fans can't even come here and talk football. I was actually looking forward to this kind of thread.

"Talk football"? This is "talking football"?

"Every year, on every one, somebody...or usually MANY people...claim this is the year that South Carolina steps it up. Every year, South Carolina disappoints. (doesn't disappoint me...I'm not one to ever think of them in terms of "good football") I'm gonna step out on a limb and predict they suck again."

"Every year on those same forums, someone says this is the year Arkansas steps it up. Although a better team than South Carolina, I predict Arkansas to wind up between 3rd-5th in the West. They have no defense...and are unlikely to obtain one with their current head coach.

"

So it's OK for you to talk about SC and Arkansas in this manner, but LSU is off limits. They have no clue... and are unlikely to obtain one with their current head coach. I'm gonna step out on a limb and predict they suck again.

Not the point. It's OK if you think that. But, you brought LSU into the discussion simply because of my avatar. I brought neither USCe nor Arky into the discussion...just posted my thoughts on them. Again, just a simple pot shot from you based on my avatar. To try and dismiss it as anything else is ridiculous.

Instead of bringing LSU up just because of my avatar, why don't you post a logical retort to what I said about USCe and Arky. Do you think that, after years of high expectations and minimal results, The Ole Ball Coach really has the team this year? And Petrino, do you think he can field a defense this year and prove me wrong? To be honest, I don't think Arky is a bad team...simply because their offense will be hard to stop. But a team like Bama OR LSU can do it with the secondary each possesses, and I don't think Arky's defense can stop either. FWIW, for obvioius and logical reasons, I think it'll be harder for them to stop Bama than LSU. LSU still has to prove itself BIG TIME on offense. And yes, that's talking football.

What I stated was just a simple observation. Every year, people jump on the USCe bandwagon, and it winds up derailing itself shortly after leaving the station. That's all I'm saying. Am I wrong about that? If so, point THAT out...since that's what I was talking about. Try to stay on point, and I'm sure we can have a decent football conversation.

I agree with you Fish. I think Arky will hang a lot of points on some lesser teams, but really struggle against any D with not only good athletes (every SEC school has those) but discipline. For as good of an arm as Mallete has, he probably has equally bad legs. By that I mean the guy is a statue back there, he is strong; but he won't be alluding the rush anytime soon. I just don't see the hype with USCe. I mean lets face it, if a Spurrier coached team is more well known for defensive play than their offense; then that team is in trouble. Yeah, they will make a bowl; but I don't expect much more from them. To me, LSU is scary because they do have if not equal, very close to equal talent with the Tide. I think Bama is a better coached, and more fundamentally sound team, but all LSU has to do is put that one game together to make it tough for any team....including Bama. I still think Bama wins that game, but I think it will be a good one. Ole Miss will play people tough because of their D, but I don't think they will get ehough from their offense to really make a run. They will make a bowl, but I don't think they will be booking their 3rd trip to Dallas this year. I don't think MSU is quite there yet. They could make a bowl, but they would need a few things to bounce their way. I do think they are headed in the right direction though. Florida is still scary good, and will show up for what should be one helluva game in T-town. UGA should finish 2nd in the East, but again, I only expect them to beat the teams they are supposed to beat. I wouldn't be shocked if all 6 of the teams from the West made a bowl this year, and 5 at the absolute minimum. I am just ready for it to get here, and can't wait for my 1st FOOTBALL SATURDAY of the year. Roll Tide fellas!!!!!!!:BigA:
