My son Jacob Fields a 9th grader just got back from the High School football camp at Alabama and he had a blast, he said the camp was really good and that all of the coaches there were knowlegible and were fired up the entire time. He said Coach Saban was on the field either coaching or watching every minute of every day. Jacob made the All Saban Team at the conclusion of the camp.
Coach Pendry had some nice things to say about Jacobs heart and technique. Jacob is a little light in the britches compared to alot of the players at the camp but Jacob said there was some STUDS there. One of the coaches told him that he needs to eat some peanut butter sandwiches and he better come back next year weighing 205lbs.
He said that he was kneeling down during the awards presentation picking blades of grass when his name was called and he was looking around because there was another Fields at the camp and Coach Pendry looked at him and said "Yea You" he was a bit shocked.
He is a special kid, has always made excellent grades and works hard in the weight room. I coached him until he started playing JV and he was always one of my best players, BIG hitter too. Jacob is one of only three 9th graders on the varsity this year.
Coach Saban told Jacob that he thinks he is the Youngest player to be named to the All Saban Team at the high school players camp this summer, he's ready to go back already.
Any way I thought I would share it with you guys, it is exciting for both of us. Maybe in about three years ya'll will be be posting about him on the recruiting forum.
Now Im off to get some light bread, a half gallon of peanut butter and a frame for his award. ROLL TIDE!

Wow hacksaw – I'm thrilled for you and Jacob! The young man must be flying high.

Isn't it great what a difference CNS has made in the short time he's been at Bama. Kids just seem to eat up the tough disciplined approach the staff brings to things now. I can't wait for the season to begin.

Get some strawberry jam to go with the peanut butter – and a Roll Tide to both of you!

What position does he play? I'm assuming OL bc Pendry was his coach. But in the next year or so he could blossom into some completely different position. I know I grew about 3 inches and about 25 lbs between my 9th and 10th grade years.

Good for you guys, that's cool stuff!

JMO, but honey goes really good with peanut butter - maybe he'll like that!

Best of luck..
