Re: NCAA to interview T. Love and Julio Jones.

I not trying to be a jerk, but I don't see how his "assumption" is any different than your assumption that he has "never had any kid ranked that high before". Ohio is a state that is loaded with talent most years.
Also, I don't think it is a secret to anybody, that the NCAA and the media in general are biased when it comes to the south. They think they are smarter and better. I know that is generalization, but for the most part, it is true.
If I am not mistaken, couldn't the NCAA being doing something productive, like going after someone they know has cheated......Reggie Bush and USC.

ROLL TIDE !!!!

Could you kindly explain this statement, please?

I'm hoping you aren't saying what it appears you are saying, considering that the South has provided, in the past half century, by way of people and/or geography better than half of the cultural and technological advances in things like, oh, the music industry, medical fields, agriculture, aerospace and military technology, computers, just to name a few. You would be amazed at how many things that have affected the entire world have come out of the Tennessee Valley alone.

I'm not worried about us , I'm suspicious as to just how close "the inventor" down south is pushing it to the limits .
Sure the odds are against any deleterious effects coming out of these interviews. However, I don't know what the NZAA has to do to earn out total mistrust. In my feeble mind, I see all their office floors as being covered with at least 2" plus of ax grindings and all their employees prefacing their conversations with each other with: "Now I never said this, but let's try screwing Alabama by......"

Generally speaking, paranoia is a sad thing. However, it, or at least suspicion, regarding anything NZAA is healthy. Of course, suspicion of anything concerning the urbane Gator may be healthy too.:)

Re: NCAA aims to fine-tune its Top Prospects Program: Interviewing J. Jones & T. Love

If the NCAA is even remotely interested in equity, they have to interview all recruits within a defined window. When they pick and choose recruits, it stinks of bias. If their window is the top 30 or 40 recruits, they should try to interview them all, or none. If I were Julio or Love, I would simply tell them that I would be happy to attend an interview when I see evidence that this sort of equity was being applied...

Re: NCAA to interview T. Love and Julio Jones.

The coach they interviewed was basically clueless. He made the assumption that it must be aimed at the South, even though he admitted he knew nothing of the program. He probably never had any kid ranked that high before, which would explain his ignorance. I thought the inclusion of his remarks was poor, because it gave a false impression of the content of the article. If they were going to call this guy, then they should have taken the time to call several more, preferably guys at schools which had a number of top 40 kids over the years...
A logical assumption, but without these comments the article would be too vanilla to spark controversial conversation and; after all, isn't that what news reporting is all about, creating controversy where there is none?:rolleye2:

I do think you're spot on with your analysis though, HSV.

I think the truth he is talking about is the truth that they THINK they're better and smarter than southerners, not that they ARE.

Re: NCAA to interview T. Love and Julio Jones.

If we didn't do anything wrong, why worry?
If the NCAA is out to get a school they will stick it to them. Even if they say the University had no involvement or if it is based on a non-legit agreement written on a napkin. If they go fishing you worry because they might just catch a shoe and tell everyone it was a bass.

The key is finding a way to stand up to the NCAA if it becomes apparent they are being heavy handed and biased (as we already know they are).

Surely, with this incisive post about all of the wonderful things that the south has contributed to the world, you are smart enough to see the point I was making.....I DON"T think the north and west is smarter than the south. If you watch enough TV, If you read a lot, you will see that for the most part, the media and the NCAA think the south is filled with rednecks and Bible thumping, inbred idiots.
You should read a post closely before starting an argument(debate).
Again, I'm from the south and love the south and that is my opinion. Hope I didn't offend anybody.

Reading through it a couple times, I thought (hoped) that's what you were trying to say, but the word order was a little ambiguous. ;)

If the ncaa ever punishes ANYONE after letting Ohio State skate on Clarrett, USC skate on Bush and Michigan on the $600,000 to players it is PROOF of their "bias and heavy handedness".

THEY HAVE......THEY ARE!!!!!
